Hi all,
Just bought my ES350 2010 a month ago and was just wondering what size of speakers are in the front doors and what would be a good aftermarket replacement? I plan on keeping the factory amp. Thanks!

your fronts are 6.5...honestly unless they are blown I would leave them alone...reason being is that there is a series of crossovers for the speakers. If you go aftermarket and your wanting to stick o factory amp, then you would have to get speakers that mach exactly in the OHMS...also it is going to be difficult as well because of the adapters you are going to need to put the speakers in. This isn't a plug and play installation. You will also have to watch the depth with the magnet..The aftermarket speakers tend to have a deeper mounting depth.

Thanks for the reply LEXRX04. I will take your advice and leave them in. I did go to Crutchfield's website and that is when I also found out about the adapters and how the factory speakers are wired in.

I did the swap for the front speakers, removing the oem and putting a old set of Infinity perfect kappa 5 inch woofers, the depth is almost the same as the oem, the Infinity is about 0.5 inch longer. I had to make a mdf template, very easy and bolt the Infinity into it, work perfectly with good clearance.

The result is 75% better than the oem with the same power.

You can increase the sound quality better by simply swapping the oem speakers with reasonable priced speakers, no doubt about it.

I changed exactly the same in my HS250h
My experience is that replacing the speakers is every bit worth it!

With all due respect, my experience is contrary to observations from LEXRX04.
No - crossovers are not complex (there's just a high pass filter on tweeters - woofer are fed full range). And no, you don't have to match OHMs either. The stock speakers were 4 ohms each and are replaced by JBL components which are 2 ohms (per their specs).

I've 2010 HS 250h with "Premium Audio" (10 speaker package) but it wasn't premium at all - sounded worse than my previous Camry with JBL system.
Although I've a lot more gear waiting to be installed, I'm currently running only with door speakers upgraded - exactly what you've in mind.
First off, it was very difficult to get speaker specs as the model was very new at that time. I paid $15 for a 2-day subscription at Toyota's Technical Information System at downloaded all the details including wiring, connectors details etc. You can take this approach if you want to be 100% sure.

My speakers were 1" tweeters in dash, 6.5" woofer in front doors and 6.5" components in rear doors. It also has 3.5" speaker for center channel in dash and 8" sub in rear deck. You can see the details in this post.
I went for high efficiency JBL components and was able to get a deal from their website - paid less than $90 for two pairs!

The front tweeters and front door speakers are fed direct from the stock amp - the tweeters have little capacitors on them - a very rudimentary high-pass filter. I decided to not touch the tweeters in the dash and had both the 6.5" and the tweeter installed right in the front doors. This makes the dash tweeters run in parallel. (Did have to figure out the front connections a little bit)
On the rear doors, I had the 6.5" woofer and 1" tweeter installed exactly at the same place as OEM ones.
Bottom line - it sounds very good - (I listen to Harman Kardon receiver and Infinity speakers at home).

With help from Airman, I was able to find the right tools to pop-up the cover of the front tweeters - piece of cake! Had I known this, I'd have my tweeters installed right there in dash instead of running two sets of tweeters for front.

I paid $150 at Best Buy to get the speakers replaced. If you're handy, and if you're willing to invest some time and do it by yourself and save the money, user orateam created a document with pics (I'm sure ES is not too different in terms of setup - Lexus uses similar configuration across the board). I can send that document if you're interested.

I would agree it would make a difference in sound quality...I just wanted to make sure that he knows that it is going to take some work to make it all work.

Thanks for the information guy's. It does seem like alot of work, I'd be scared to death that I would screw something up! Thanks rajeev6 for all the good info. and i did visit their website. If is was easy as pulling the covers off the door speakers and pulling the speakers out and just putting in the new ones with maybe an adapter then I would maybe consider doing it.

Did you make the MDF template yourself? Or did you buy it from somewhere? If you have the store link that would be great.

Thanks!

6x9 to 6.5" adapters from Metra work great. I covered that in my thread in the ES-350 section. https://www.clublexus.com/forums/es3...-a-2007-a.html
