DIY amp bypass
Need a diy for bypassing factory amp. Couldnt find one when I searched. And having a post about electronics sent to the correct area isnt any help to ke since it wont ever be answered there lol. Diagrams, pictures, and easy wording for this hick would be great. And is the upgraded alternator needed to do this
aftermarket head unit? i looked to see if i could find a wiring schematic but no such luck...best option would either be run all new wires from new h/u to each speaker... or pulling car apart an matching wires at speakers w/wires at amp...either way door panels come off.. but depending on how much room is in the door boot for extra wire is the real question... a custom shop should be able to take care of this.. it may be a lil beyond some of the guys at BB...
hope this helps... good luck

and thats my turn to chime in like usual lol.
OP you need to state why you want to bypass it like Shibumi1 said. If just bypassing the amp, grab a harness mentioned below from BB (which you will return) and then you can grab a multi meter and figure out your power, ground, switched.....then grab a 9V battery with some leads and "pop" your speakers after the amp to figure out which runs into which door and make note of them. then take the harness and temporarily plug it into the factory harness to find your radio colors...ie wire A on my factory harness is green on the aftermarket one....then take that wire A amd use your multimeter to perform a continuity test from each wire at the deck to the pre-amp on the amp. it takes time but it works.
or if your installing a deck on a non nak system......go to BB and buy the Metra 70-1761 or 70-8112 and dont bypass the factory amp.
not bad for BB guy lol

am i wrong in saying BB only installs products that they sell (no outside equipment)
thats what i meant by beyond BB..(beyond what their allowed to do) should have elaborated on that statement...

my BB will install anything and everything you can bring in, regardless of how old, new, or pain it is. others are not though. i got a call from a local store saying they were sending me a customer over 1.5 hours to me cuz they couldnt figure out how to install rear speakers in an 09 civic si. no joke. only exception - remote starts have to be BB products.
that aside, any improvements on my amp bypass procedure?

I've got a dead nak amp in my 99 ls 400 and was told yesterday that a new HU can be installed but I lose my amp & sub, which I don't want to do.
thx

i watched one NAK amp. My boss retrofitted a varity of different harnesses. i think one was a GM harness and kept the amp. however i couldnt do it again. the above quote was meant for non NAK amps in general, which i have just edited to clarify. From my ideas, an installer without a bunch of random harness cannot though i didnt get to see the back of the deck of a NAK amplified system in the first place. it may be possible using the second harness but im unsure at the moment

no. they are harness used for bypassing and replacing radios. if you amp is dying, then your amp is dying. there is nothing to do about that, replace the amp or get a new radio/amp setup.
the piece is literally just a harness that is used to adapt from factory to aftermarket connections. thats all. its isnt a miracle cure for anything at all and in your current circumstance bullet, it is useless.
junkyard to find a NAK amp.
amp bypass = not using amp. bypassing it. therefore on deck power.
amp integration = using the amp. integrtating it.

Thanks Irishcharm I have a spare deck so guess i'll get that and bypass the amp and use the decks power. But I'm guessing now I'll have more sound but it will sound like crap because the factory stuff is all meant to work together right. Thanks for the info much appreciated!
NEED HELP.....i have a 2000 gs400 with navi want to change the door speakers and add a 4 channel but cant find the adaptors no where..thats problem one .....second problem is i dont know how to wire the speaker at the factory amp or the input of off the factory amp wires to get RCAs please help pics are welcome......THANKS
1. factory navi? replacing navi? "any where"? bypassing factory amp i assume?
2. go purchase a summing device or a line output converter. and hook that up to your speaker leads.
3. take the after market amp and run the output wires to the factory ones that go into the doors and thats that.
