Default HUD (Heads up Display)

Has anyone ever researched or completed a HUD installation on a Lexus? I'd love to get some details on how to do it on 00 GS3.

I know the new Caddies and the Vettes have systems from I believe Deplhi. Does anyone know of any vendors or suppliers that sell HUD equipment?

DEFI does. It's an universal system for all Japanese cars I believe.

click HERE to get more details. but you have to be able to read japanese.

Basically you can show Speed/Tach, 1/4 mile, timer mode, elapsed time timer, trip odometer (count up / count down). Digital/analog bar display. Speed limiter cut. Other stuff too.

Someone has it on an IS300.

that would be really sweet to mount right infront of the steering column... when you're driving it would look like a video game

Thanks for the info guys.

Sasha, I was thinking more like a F-16 or F-18 with radar and weapon system to eliminate those ignorant people that hang out in the left lane all day. Ha!

I had a factory HUD system in my 1997 Pontiac Grand Prix (same as in corvette). It is one of the coolest things I have ever seen on a car. I don't know why more car companies don't put them on their cars.

I wouldn't suggest buying an aftermarket one. After I got my lexus I did a lot of research about aftermarket HUDs and I have heard a lot of complaints about them being blurry and hard to see. Cars (like my grand prix) that come with HUD from the factory come with a special windshield that makes the HUD clear and easy to read.

I have the HUD on my prix. Great thing, and I plan on doing it on the IS when I get it. The difference between a normal Grand Prix Windshield, and a HUD Windshield is the HUD passes an optical clarity test. Its been discovered there is actually no coating.

As for the aftermarket ones, I plan on getting the DEI setup. I just looked them all up last night. I can post links when I get home.

Nice ride. I think I saw your car at Grand Prix Gathering in 2000. You had the side exhaust on with the tips that you said were like $150 a piece or something. Did you go to GPG2001? Are you getting rid of the GP? I sold all of my aftermarket mods on my GTP but I still have the car. Completely stock. not nearly as fast. Nice to see someone else that made the transition from GP to SC.

I've actually decided to get an IS300, I need to change that.

I went to the GPG in '99, '00, and '01 Lots of fun, gonna miss it.
