1GB DDR2 Ram
PS M3-ATX
16GB Compact Flash Card SSD
8GB Compact Flash Card Media Storage

notebook dvd drive
Visteon HD radio
pcmcia to usb adapter for Sprint net card

Software:

Housing:
OEM d-din Gutted with rear extension

OEM radio before going under the knife

Mother board in for test fit

gutted OEM radio and trimmed LCD Bezel

OEM face trimmed and LCD bezel inserted and welded from behind with soldering gun.

Decided to make a new chassis from aluminum.

I painted climate control and screen bezel to match

I had to remove the Airbag computer in order for the long chassis to fit.
I also had to extend some wiring for the climate control

All done!

UPDATE: I am currently converting the OEM radio Volume **** into a 2gig thumb drive that plugs in where it goes. this way I can upload music from the desktop and plug it in the carpc

More to come...

thats a great question. The original plan before any of the parts got here was to mounting just under the screen. but when I got the screen its taller than I thought so I have to find a new place, was thinking behind the ashtray/cig lighter since I dont use either.

Very nice and clean!! Did you get a trans reflective Lillput screen? The only reason I didn't like it down there was the horrible glare...

Look into iGuidance for your maps, much more carputer friendly IMO...

Only 8gb for media? Why not buy a 300gb 2.5" drive? I've used mine for almost 3 years now with no errors...

Using CF uses less energy, have no moving parts and create less heat. for additional media ill just plug in a thumb drive.
This is a trans reflective screen pretty bright and not much of a glare. I would much rather have the unit in the original radios place rather that moving stuff around and end up with lines that dont flow like some set ups I've seen. Thanks for the iguidance suggestion ,Ill look into it for sure

Mount the DVD drive in the space where the drop-down cup holder is...you'll have to make a plate so its flush but that would be a option.

oh...I gotta move this to the audio forum.....
