I have a Cobra. It's old as hell. I've had since before I even bought my first Lexus. It's like 4+ years old now and it still works great. I've had it in three vehicles now and it's saved me from a few tickets especially on the Garden State Parkway and the N.J. Turnpike.

I'm on the NJ Turnpike a lot and those troopers are present always pulling over people. I've been debating for many years on getting one. I've been using my instincts and eyes to spot them but my luck may probably run out. What are the key things to look for because I still have an interest in one.

Just make sure you get one that detects all different kinds of radars and lasers. Like I said mine is old and picks up about 4 different kinds of radars and lasers. I'm pretty sure they have better more upgraded ones by now. I bought mine from eBay for like $65. Just go to different company websites like cobra, whistler, valentine, etc. and see the different features and prices. I don't really think you need the top of the line, state of the art latest model but that's totally at your discretion.

Hey if ain't broke don't fix it - looks like your Cobra is still doing the job.
"4 different radars and lasers", I didn't even realize that there were more than just one type. Time for some homework and catching up. Thanks a lot KANDEL25.

I would invest in a laser jammer instead.

8500x50 plus the zr3 laser shifter, works well, it's either that one or the v1 that are always the top dogs.

I have a Valentine 1 and it saved my *** on numerous occasions...I have the Lidatek Laser Jammer installed in the Front Grill of my Subie and it works as well, but I hardly ever get laser'd...

V1 is the best hands down...
