Hi guys!

Need a listing of the systems that are floating around here. Too many to remember so I'm asking for a roll call listing. Like Gene says, it must be a "senior" moment. Been happening to me alot lately!

Please list the equipment, the car and owner.

Percy

amlin423,

The ultimate SQ sub would be the DF10sc or the DF12sc from Velodyne. Special order only. If you have one of these, nobody can top you in Sound Quality.

Default Collecting Pieces

Dyn 240 MkII for the front doors and ADS 336im for the rear doors - seems like this was the easier part. Peter says Vel DF 10sc is no more so I am still trying to sort out the sub (Couple of PMs with Mean Gene and I have pretty well decided to go free air but still don't have which one sorted out). Convinced myself that as long as things will be open to go with additional amp with stock head units. Currently leaning toward MCC444 and MCC222 to drive the sub although, for some reason, I would like to try and do it all with one multichannel amp.

ARC Audio is established by the same guy that brought you Zapco. ARC is a little more advanced and hi end. They also have pretty close partnership with Brax and Rainbow. Watch out for them on IASCA finals

Ahhhh yes... Robert Zeff. That brings back memories... I think I still have an old Zapco laying around somewhere, the ones with the separate power supply module... those were the good old days!

Mumbles,

Man o man...the original XES P1? 1991 technology that still rocks! As for the aperiodics, you're the first one using them so far that I know of. How do these sound? I can't use aperiodics with the Vel since it'll screw up the correction factor of the controller...thought about it though. Gotta listen to a set of Dyns though...(nudge nudge)

I know what you mean by equipment sitting in the basement. My MC4000M McIntosh modded amp is sitting right next to me...just waiting for a nice cool day for the installation!

Pair of horns (ID CD1E mini horns), a pair of 7" midbass from Focal 180W and a pair of IDQ 12 for bass (although these may have to replaced soon with a pair of Dyn's MW190). Using Alpine 7969 HU, a couple of EQT's and one 4XS for crossover.

Here's the fun part : just recently traded in a pair of Fosgates (Power 800a4 and 1000a2) for a pair of Mc's MCC404M (cost of an additional $750), Mc's MX406 Control Center for another $600 and a changer (MCD400) for another $100. In the process of installing/re-installing the system as we speak.

You'll love the sound of the MX406. Very open and smooth, not a hint of grain at all! Just watch out for that seperate power supply. It's a bit on the large side but that helps immensely in the terms of it's sound quality. That big old power supply is just for the op amp and d/a converters!

Plus the retro look is a theft deterent in itself. When I had that Mc piece, a Vietnamese guy went up to the car, looked at the head unit and said "That thing is UGLY! Who'd want to rip that off?!?!" I just smiled and didn't say a thing. They're more into the flashy graphics, not understated elegance.

First thing you'll notice upon powerup of the MX406 is it's extremely high dynamic range on CD selections. You'll hear what I mean.

old system:
nak 45z
focal polykev 165
crossfire cfa 402 running the comp set
nexus lion
2 atomic thunder 15" mini extremes (8 cube box)
151.3 dbs

what i have now:
jvc sh55
diamond m3 comp. set off head unit power (back up)
crystal 12" cmp
crossfire cfa402 (for the meantime running the sub)

upcoming system:

jvc sh55
debating over the oz matrix comp. set or the cdt hd series (what do you guys think, i love em both, coin toss i guess)
arc 2100
crystal cmp 12
ample audio 240

i'm trying to get as much of this new stuff in as i can installed for tomorrows meet , but i'm basically starting from scratch (sold the pair of utopias i was gonna run, didnt sound as nice as i thought they would). i wish i had the cash flow for better things, but hey, car audios more about taking pride in what you've installed and liking what you hear rather than how much we've spent right? (not really, but i'd like to think so)
