So the speakers were MC also? I have never really heard anything good about them.
We have a shop here in San Diego called LaJolla audio and basically they take your card and install the system in your lamborgini, porche or ferrari and never really mind the prices. After sitting in a couple of their demo vehlicles I was blown away (utopia/dynaudio) installs. However, Rainbow Refs made those installs sound average. I was tuning mine for 2 weeks and I have another 2 weeks to finish tuning...very hard that is.
I use the ARC Audio one right now. Waiting for them to come out with their new one. Actually it is not connected when I am tuning kickpanels. Neither are tweets
About my earlier post re: Zapco and ARC, et al............
Time did tell - ARC cars got smacked around by the Zapco cars at the IASCA finals. Also, the big Rainbow Reference car got smoked by the Focal Cars (Rick McCallum vs. Bill Acevedo) Also, I know that the Rainbow mids were removed from the vehicle and replaced with ID mids virtually in the judging lanes. So, you tell me, was I right or was I right............
On a related topic, the big Dynaudio car at finals (Phil Petracca, also Zapco car) smoked the Big amatuer/expert Focal car of Mike Peterson (formerly an expert world champion car)

There is also another way to look at this. ARC/Rainbow is fairly new on the market. Only a few people use it. Comparing them to the number of pros that use Zapco/Focal would be unfair at this point. Give them a couple of years when there are more competitors with ARC/Rainbow products and I am positive that they will beat Zapco/Focal. Since SQ competitions are all about natural sound, Focal looses because of its agressivness. Even tuned, they do not sound as neutral as Rainbow Refs and many other brands out there (Accuton, Seas etc.) Just give them time and you will see whats up
As far as midbasses go. I was actually the one who suggested rick to swap them for IDs. Speakers are all about application. His doors were not ideal for those speakers, thats why he swapped them to IDs. In my doors those same speakers sound much much better.
