I am getting ready to buy a Eclipse AVN 5435, I was wondering can the Ipod be interfaced with the AVN, hooked up maybe through its cd changer port or something, I have been to the eclipse website, and also emailed tech support a few days back and no answer.
Crutchfield.com, call 'em up they're awesome! And I have a promo code for $20 off AND free shipping and no tax AND they send you the difference if the price goes down over the next 90 days! Anyone know what new features the 5500 offers if any? Thanks..
The new replacement will offer Sirius Traffic. This is a live traffic service that overlays onto the nav maps that shows route flow info, similar to XM's NavTraffic.
I'm not sure what the model number of this unit will be, whether it is 5500 or other. I know 5500 is ready to be released, but there may be another model coming.
I finally got an answer from eclipse tech support here is a copy and paste from the email
Thank you for contacting Eclipse:
IPOD
We do not have a piece that will adapt to the IPOD but there is an adapter made by peripheral
that will work utilizing the changer port. There are two parts for this. The part #'s are
pxdp and the pxhec1. The adapter only changes the track, charges the unit and connects
directly for the best digital quality. It does not have artist, title or track info
unfortunately. It does not daisy chain with a changer or sirius though, also.
To get more information you can also go to peripherals website. Also, we have an adapter in the
works and that should be out sometime in 2006 if you wanted to wait, that will utilize
full control of the IPOD.
the new AVN6600 has an ipod interface, where as the 5500 does not. you can always plug your ipod in through the AV aux connection, but you will have to operate the ipod itself, not through the HU. the 5500 is the new replacement for the 5435, where as the 6600 will feature dual dvd drives, one dedicated for map only and the other will read DVD/CD/MP3. I would personally like to wait for the 6600, I'm giving our Eclipse rep a hard time because we've had some AVNs on backorder for a little while now and one of them is supposed to me mine

Any word on a release date for the 6600? Price? Anything?
I haven't seen anything about price yet. Expect it to be between the 5500 and the 5495 which is sticking around for 2006. I think the estimated time of release is somewhere in the neighborhood of April...but they need to get their act together...I want one dammit
