Has anyone done the carpc here using the mac mini? I'm going to start this project soon and was wondering if anyone has done it here. If so hit me up because i may need the help if i come across problems...

here's my plan...

7-8" touch screen in dash
mac mini (Itunes/ streaming internet radio??/dvd/etc..)
gps
rear view color camera (possibly front...isight??)internet ..of course
obd II connections
bluetooth
FM radio (USB device)

..what ever else comes up in the process...
already found alot of info on some people that have done it...

there is a dock for it in japan http://minidock.jp/en/index.html

****UPDATE**** got an email from the company in japan not an issue to ship it to the US..
and i know there is a guy here in the US that has made one also ... i'm trying to get in contact with him. http://homepage.mac.com/lazzwaldo/PhotoAlbum2.html

i'm going to get it done by the spring hopefully and i will be posting my progress throughout...

That will be cool but are you going to wait for the mac to turn off every time you want to turn off the car?

I'm pretty interested to know myself

thats where the power supply comes into play...

better than an inverter..straight to battery plus it can power the screen and any usb device.

I'm planning to do one in my RX300 next year. Trying to check out the wiring options at the moment, but I'm pulling the radio (no navigation) screen and replacing it with a touchscreen of same size. I'll be routing it to a MacMini mounted where the CD changer is currently.

Default custom bezel

ok..here is the butchered double din kit (American International - LXSK1315) i cut off some parts to it.

here's the extra housing i bought plus the butchered double din...i'm going to combine the two.

i decide to use bondo cause i didn't want to make it into a big compicated project..

i decide not to bondo the whole bezel so i simplified it...

ok here is the bezel sanded and primed with texture paint...
now i just have to match the oem color of the console...

well..if anyone can help out with the color ... please let me know...

WOW!!!! Great work Carlos!

Some questions...

Is that in it's final paint shade or is that primer?

In the last two pics, is the primer/paint still wet in the lower left hand corner? Looks wet/shiny compared to the rest of the piece.
