ok guys im looking for a good sub to go with my amp. im basically looking for sound quality than bass. as of right now i have a phoenix gold octane-r 1500W amp 1000W@2ohms and 500W@4ohms. i was thinking either jl audio w6v2, image dynamics v.3d2, and memphis. what sub would you guys recommend?
For SQ I would go w/ a single Image Dynamics idmax, or 2 W6 v.2's.
they are great subs that's within your power range.
they also can get LOUD when you feel like it.
BTW, don't forget to feed that PG amp 8 volts (through the RCA's).
well i only want one sub in the car so that i can still have my trunk space. i was more leaning toward the IDMAX. so should i get a 10 or a 12. they both seem to have the same specs. so if i was to get the IDMAX would i be running its full potential? i dont want to blow anything so would it be safe to use the PG amp to push the IDMAX?

They have the same specs because they are basically the same speaker except for the difference in displacement.
Depending on how much room you have available, either one would be a good choice. Although I usually prefer 10's over 12's b/c its usually tighter and reacts faster (less mass).
The PG amp should be able to power the idmax pretty easily. I've seen the idmax handle 1600 wrms with no sweat, the 1000 wrms rating is pretty conservative.
I love the JL Bass and also I find that a 12" speaker gives a better bass response than a 10", however I agree with you that using a 10" would afford more space.
IDMAX it is. but would my amp be able to handle a 4ohm? only reason i chose 2ohm is that my amp is rated at 1000W@2ohms and the sub is rated at 1000W@2ohms. if i get the 4ohm than my amp wont be able to handle it cuz its rated at 500W@4ohms.

get the dual 4 ohm version, run it in parallel and you'll get 2 ohms.
your amp is optimized for 2 ohms.
