Subs in Parallel....Help.
Hi CL. I need to run my subs in Parallel to get a 2 ohm load.
To do this do I have to connect the [+] of speaker A to the [+] of speaker B to the [+] output of the amp and repeat for [-]? Or can I just splice [+] wires together from both A and B and connect them to [+] on the amp?

As long as all the positives (+) and negatives (-) are grouped that will count work as a parallel connection. So if you wanted to you could hook up both speakers on separate wires and splice the two + together and two - together. As long as at the amp all the positives are connected to the positive terminal and all the negatives are connected to the negative terminal. METAL
Just remember when wiring in Parallel you bring down the resistance (ohms)!! Make sure your amp can handle the load!!
2 8ohm = 4 ohm
2 4ohm = 2 ohm
And each VOICE COIL COUNTS AS A SEPARATE SPEAKER!!!!
If you are still confused just ask me.

That will work exactly right, my only suggestion would be make sure you use larger wire were the paths are combined.....

Right now I have 14AWG lamp cord connecting my subs but I've been told that lamp cord is only good for home speakers because cars introduce more noise.
I was just talking to RJ (he is a personal friend of mine, who is also doing my stereo btw
) and he said that is correct, car RCA's are wrapped differently to deflect noise. He made me get the Stinger Expert RCA's they were over $200 but it is worth it!

Thanks, I have Stinger Hyper Series 4 channel cables running from the head unit to the 4 channels amp and Stinger Hyper Series 2 channel cables running from the head unit to the sub amp.
I'm using the lamp cord from the sub amp to the speakers. I'll upgrade it soon. Do you know what kind of difference it will make?

Using better speaker wire will help as a car is just a spawning ground for Radio Frequency Interference (RFI), the most noticable difference will be in the RCA interconnects as the are moving such a weak signal but better speaker wire will help keep out any "noise" and also will have less resistance inturn helping your speaker and amp work better.
