amp install question
hey guys, i need your expertise. i just bought an alpine pdx 4.150 to hookup with my eclipse avn5495. the alpine is replacing the stock amp in the car. right now, the eclipse has 8 speaker wires coming out of it (+/- wires for 4 speakers). these wire go to the stock amp which then hooks to the speakers. however, alpine amp input is in the form of rca cables (2 for front and 2 for rear input). the eclipse has four RCA out for the same thing (2 for front and 2 for rear). here is the problem, when i remove the old amp, the 8 wires coming out of the headunit going to the amp will be disconnected. will it be enough to just connect the headunit to the amp via the 4 RCA cables (2 front/2 rear)? i know its a little confusing, but im completely lost. thanks in advance.
Current setup:
AVN5495 speaker inputs ---> 8 wires ----> amp -----> 8 wires -----> 4 speakers
This is the setup i want to do:
AVN5495 RCA outputs (2 for front, 2 for rear) ----> 4 RCA cables ----> pdx 4.150 ---> 8 wires ----> 4 speakers.

As long as you have the rca's properly connecting the head unit to the amp, the only other thing you need is the remote turn on wire, and the speaker wires from the amp to the speakers-- and of course a good power and ground--
That's it-- not confusing at all--

hey mjhsc, i was reading your first post and just had a question. when you say "remote turn on wire", is that the same as the wire labeled on the eclipse as "to turn on lead of power amplifier"? i was looking at the user manual of the avn5495, and apparently, according to the diagram, there are 2 wires that are both blue/white and supposed to connect to a power amplifier. one says "control power amplifier..to turn on lead of power amp" and the other says "ACC on/off power supply terminal..use this to connect to a power amplifier and you can hear nav guidance even when audio is off".
now in the system set up example, the "ACC on/off wire" is not connected, but the "control power amplifier" wire is attached to an external amp. so should i just use the "control power amp" wire as the power source of the amp?
