first problem: cd player - my 12 disk cd player skips whenever i go over bumps and from what i have seen this can not be fixed by adding an aftermarket disc changer. Im wondering why this can not be done ... and if anyone has a diagram of all the wires going into the cd player that would be helpful ...
second problem: Water leak ... i seem to have a water leak that makes the carpet in my back seat wet ... im pretty sure that the weather stripping under the doors are just old and should be replaced as the carpet on the underside of the doors seems wet too ..... and there is no water in the headliner ... has anyone had this problem before and does new weather stripping fix the problem?
Thanks, LexusFiend
btw i did use the search function and i drive a 92 sc300 5sp
if you get a aftermarket cd changer it will fix the skipping problem since our cd changers dont have anti-skip. the only think is you will have to get a new headunit or use a RF adaptor, i dont think there can be anyway you can hook it up to the stock headunit.
Doesn't the sound quality go down when you use an RF modulator pirate? How much a of a decrease in SQ would you say you have noticed between the stock cd changer and kenwood one?
Well, my stock cd changer didnt work when I got the car, atleast I couldnt get it to work..... The playback is better than radio reception but not up to a quality cd played through a nice head unit.. True audiophiles would be able to find the flaws easily but to an everyday person, the difference isnt that noticeable.
thanks for the replys guys, yesterday i decided that i was not going to mess with the fm modulation thing so to solve the problem i bought a cd changer out of a 97 sc300 and just plugged it in. It works much better and does not skip ... the newer ones must have be less sensitive to bumps on the road ...
thanks for the suggestions and since it seems that no one has ever had problems with old weather stripping im just going to replace it and see what happens
thanks again, lexusfiend
