Unhappy cd player skipping

the cd player in my 2002 IS300 is skipping. it playes the first 5-8 songs of the cd just fine but the higher tracks keep on skipping. has anyone else had this problem? i was thinking that maybe the cd player does not like my burned cds...i havent tried playing a normal store bought cd yet. can anyone help? thanks.

I went through 2 different CD players before I said forget it and bought an aftermarket one. I have heard of LOTS of people having these problems as well. What year is your IS? (just out of curiosity) You can buy the black burnable cd's and that should work. The reason your cd player is skipping is that the new burnable cds are very transparent and the laser in the CD player is unable to read the music on the disk, it just shines through. I tried the black disks and it worked GREAT. They are a little more expensive I think but I am not sure, haven't bought any in a while. Good luck!

yeah i have a 2002 also and i have the same problems... errors even come up with real cds that are not burned... usually happens after i start the car up. took it to the dealership, they "cleaned it out" but i'm still having problems.. i agree with amy- its gotta be the quality of the burned cds.. but it still doesnt explain why my real cds are having problems. weren't they replacing some '02 cd players back near the end of '02 and beginning of '03? i think i heard about that back then. sux tho.. and the people at the dealership in raleigh,nc are all idiots.

Nadia, in your case I would have them replace your player. I had that problem with one of mine and I got a new one and didn't have that type of problem anymore. But it still wouldn't play the regular burnable cds, so that is how I got into the black ones. My service tech's brother had an IS and he found out that the black ones worked so my tech gave me the same advice. Never knew they had black burnable cds until then. lol Good luck!
