The GS has it's first problem...the cd player has stopped working. It won't play and won't eject. I guess this isn't a serious issue but you sort of expect a cd player to work many years. Anyone else had this problem?
Regular Audio CD or CDR? If later, could it be just a bad/scratched CDR? Some brands have a sharp instead of a rounded edge (I only buy TDK brand) and those could get stuck. Can you load more CDs into the changer? I assume radio is working fine?
I had the same issue with my cd player...it died on me just after 5000 miles. The service woman instructed me not to use CD-R's...I think it was just a defective cd player. They replaced it for me, no problem. Everything is back to normal...and I still use CD-R's.

That doesn't make sense to me. Any modern cd player should be able to play cdr's. I notice the player in my 95 SC has a problem with them but a new almost 50K car? Rediculous! CD-R's play just fine in my G35. Should be the same in the Lex.
I keep telling my wife the new GS has the same feel as my old SC and she thinks I'm crazy. This'll teach her to mock me.
I guess they can't give us ML owners the same excuse since the system supports MP3/WMA files.
The same excuse can't be used with a regular non-ML either since its also mp3/wma 6-disc changer. I guess reggiek's problem is with CDR disk. I'm telling you, I have seen before some cheaper CDR brands that have a sharp edge that get stuck in the player (of course, that happened to me on my previous Altima, not Lexus audio system). Still, I would recommend using a premium CDR brands like TDK or Sony. They use a better dye (last londer), higher quality of material, and rounded edge.
My wife tells me there are no cdr's in the machine. She left the same ones in there I loaded last week and all are manufacturer brand cd's. She just turned it on and nothing happened...and they won't eject. A lot of us feel Lexus quality is not what it used to be. From my experience, there never was any quality with the music equipment. This is just like the experiences I had with the SC. They sound alright but quality stinks.
I'm here at the dealer to fix the cd player. They tried to blame me for using cd-r's. When I told them only name brand cd's are in the machine, they change their tune. They are ordering a new unti. They have admitted this has been a big problem with the GS cars. So watch out everyone.
