Big brakes upgrade kit
Does any one have experience with installing a carbon-ceramic big brake kit for Lexus LC 500? It is time to replace my brake pads and want to consider upgrading the brakes? I like to change to drill rotors?
if you just want drilled brakes, you can likely just change you rotors which will be minimal cost versus the Lexus rotors.
Honestly, I find that Lexus puts great brakes on their performance cars. They then undermine the great brakes with non performance pads (my opinion). I think they are looking for quiet pads because too many people will complain if that any make noise. I changed the pads and rotors on my previous RC F and the brakes were outstanding! Now, that setup made more noise versus OEM, but it was fantastic and what I expect in a performance car.
It is a lot more complicated than just swapping out brake setups. A lot of knowledge and engineering went into what’s there now.
Sounds like you are more interested in the appearance than the braking performance. I call drilled rotors”pre-cracked” because when I see them break at track they break right throught dilled holes. Never seen a slotted rotor break.
Loved the carbon brakes on our McLarens. Rookies find them “numb” but the modulation and power was what you’d expect. And carbon brakes put out almost no dust.
The most serious brakes we’ve had though were on our Bentleys. The Continental Speeds have the largest rotors of any production car I believe, needed with all that weight and power. And beautifully smooth.
Sounds like you are more interested in the appearance than the braking performance. But I would not compete with Lexus for proper brakes for that particular car.

I still say that our Speed had the biggest brakes ever before the tall Lambo. Nana nana.

My track car is a very modified Lotus Elise. Love to show off how small the calipers are, esp on rears. Yet the lightweight little car still out brakes everything with doors.

I was speaking of the largest iron brakes. We have not had a Speed with carbon brakes. Those are usually on the GT3RS or the Supersports.
The only carbon brakes in our garages were on the McLarens. Can we call a draw?
Anyway, the stock brakes on our LCs work well, have something of a delay for full bite in a full application (I have tested them three times). But there is room for improvement. These are complicated machines and I’d expect that various parameters of the suspension and drivetrain are tuned to the braking. Could be opening Pandora’s box to mess with it.
But these are heavy powerful beasts and the roads get more dummies on them every day. And brakes are part of the whole high performance thing. I used to love to show passengers what Lotus braking is like, but it gets most people sick.

^^^^Lexus, on 2021 & 2022 MY models is now installing two kinds (types) of pads on LCs. A lower performing, less dusty and quieter pad on base, touring and convertible models and a Higher performing pad (identified as Performance brake pads by Lexus) on Sport and DH models.
