First real damage since taking delivery last July. Took a couple of loose pebbles on the highway...even with PPF, somehow it looks like it hit hard enough to possibly bubble up the paint itself. ugh. Also found one under the lip of the hood where it managed to chip the paint even though the PPF is tucked under. Car is a daily driver so it was bound to happen...probably would have been a lot worse if not for PPF!
In my experience with my PPF and lots of rock chips, the PPF looks really bad when it takes damage. It looks like it through and got the paint but then if you were to remove the film it is totally fine underneath. Same with scratches, they appear white as if they went through the PPF and through the paint, but remove the PPF and the paint is A-OK.
I thought the hub ring there is only to help mount the wheel and ensure it is centered, and then once the wheel is bolted up, all the force of holding the wheel to the hub is borne by the lug nuts and there should be no forces applied to the hub ring. All that to say is I'm not sure it's a safety issue as long as there is enough lip to rest the wheel while mounting it to ensure it is centered. Am I mistaken?
You're technically correct. Slight issue with the OEM wheel is that it has a countersink style lip, which gives even less of an area to help center the wheel before you toque down the lug nuts. Personally, I wasn't confident that the wheel stayed perfectly centered. 🤔

Makes sense, thanks for the extra tidbit of knowledge!
Mother nature helped me out big time with a cold blast that helped manage engine temps. Had a blast today. Definitely cannot track like this in the summer.
I ran 3 20 mimute sessions pretty hard. Only a handful of cool down laps throughout. Oil temp creeped up in the third session when I was really pushing it, my car runs quite rich after headers and I was blowing black smoke out the exhaust coming off the back straight at 135mph lol.

Congratulations! I can imagine how utterly enjoyable this must have been for you.
how planted/stable did your car feel at 135 mph?
