Folks I cannot remember. Can we use the larger 255 40 21 with the present 275 35 21 rears even though the O.D on the 255's are a littler larger? or do we need to increase the rears also? 295 35?
Thanks everyone!
^^^^Yes, 255/40/21 on the front stock 8½" wheels is fine. the stock 275/35/21 rear tires will work fine with the 255s in front. The rear 9½" rear wheels can go up to 285/35/21, but that size is hard to find.
295/35/21s are too wide for the stock 9½" wheel.
Thanks Lou!
so the front OD at 29 255's and the rear OD at 28.5. 275's are a go thanks much,I was rechecking because on the tires from Lexus, they have the OD front (245's) less than the OD (275's) on rears, the OD's was what I was concerned with with automatic track assist etc, did not want to send bad info to the computer and have it not right, hope all is well for you !! Merry Christmas
so stock 21s are 245/40 and 275/35. much talk about 255/40 on front (although it seems non runflat 245/40 michelins do exist), but what about plus sizing the rear tires also to 285/35?
just thinking it might be nice to have a bit more rubber between the car and the road, plus to fill the wheel wells a bit better?
Sure - The Michelin PSAS4 will do fine. However the fronts will have to be upsized to 255/40/21 from the current 245/40/21. They will fit and work fine on the stock 21" wheels.
The 285s will fit fine and add as bit more meat to the rear. Do you ever encounter snow? In snow a narrower tire is usually best. But there is not much difference between 275/285. If it were me, I'd go with the wider tire. However, you want 285/35/21, not 285/40/21.
