Don't automatically discount using the Michelin Run Flats. I have had great results when I changed to them from the OEM Dunlop RFs that came on my LC (original tire size on 21" wheels). As people know on this Forum, I have tracked my LC a couple times and I don't think the Run Flats give up anything to the 'standard' Michelins. Tire technology is pretty incredible these days and VERY FEW people actually come close to the tire's limits 99.9% of the time.
Anyone had issues with putting on non-run flats? On my Mercedes I would usually not replace with RF's but always worried about breaking down out in BFE.

I don't like RFTs. I replaced the stockers with Michelin PS4S on my after market wheels. I put this in the trunk:
sounds like michelin is the runaway choice then ! i'll stick with the runflats despite the purists' diseuphoria, however;
i live on crappy roads, and you get more rubber with runflats....

I went with the run flat Michelins. VERY happy plus the peace of mind they provide. While I have free towing & tire repair, where I live there are long stretches of road and still areas without cell coverage. I've also, within the last year, experienced THREE simultaneous flats on my LC after running through some spilled sheet rock screws that were spilled on a backroad. The run flats saved my bacon!!!
wouldnt you know it - a bugle head got me too ! (for those of us not in construction, a bugle head is a self tapping screw used by sheetrockers)
anyway the bridgestone rft did its job and got me home .... maybe its just me but come to think of it, how could you NOT want a tire that doesnt get flat ?
oh yeah, the feel...hehehehehe
Michelins are the absolute best of the group, both RF and non-RF.
I'm a big fan from past experience about Michelins, but it doesn't always mean they're ALWAYS the best or that the difference justifies the price.
The problem is quality tires are typically ALL great WHEN NEW. So if we get NEW anything replacing WORN anything, we'll be in love with the replacement. Plus since we don't want to think we made a bad choice, we'll have heavy confirmation bias.
Who here has done side by side comparisons of NEW tires (RF and non-RF) of different brands? I sure haven't.
There are already other threads that discuss this here on this forum . . .
There are indeed. To OP and anyone, click Search this forum, Advanced, and put "tires" in the search box and select Search Titles Only right under it. This will bring up a load of threads on tires!

wow, and i think i'm with you, i'll stay with run flats. So when you say you got three flats at once, did you know because of the way the car drove, or the tire pressure monitoring, or something else? And how did it drive with 3 flats!?

Ha, i've no doubt non-RFT are quieter, smoother, and more comfortable. But i still don't want to deal with a flat somewhere without a spare. Maybe i'll change my mind when it comes time to get new tires.

while my car only has 1K mi. so far, the Dunlop RFT on mine are fine. I can tell if i haven't driven the car for several days and it's cool out that they're hard tires and take a few miles to smooth out, and on rough pavement they are pretty loud, but other than that, they're fine and certainly handle well enough for me!
