Default Will Android upgrades be available, and easy this time?

The Alexa upgrade seemed problematic for a lot of people. Will the 2020 and 2019 models be getting the infotainment upgrade?

Did the dust finally settle with the Alexa problems, and were owners able to easily get the update in the end? I'm curious if history will repeat here or not...

I've been asking the same questions and been doing some research about that. I'd really love to get Android Auto retrofitted into my 2018 LC. You can read up on the following links:

1) https://www.clublexus.com/forums/lc-...lian-lc-s.html

2) https://www.clublexus.com/forums/lc-...-models-4.html
Look at my post - #48

3) Lexus LC 500 Club - Thread has the lexus australia apple car play and android auto link

Towards the end on the thread

My experience with the Alexa app has not been good. It only works occasionally, so I don't use it at all.

I thought that's what he meant - I was just making sure. If that's the case, then how is he so sure that prior models will be able to get retrofitted? Based on some of the comments from one particular member in the LC500 Club on FB, prior LC models have Gen 10 navigation systems, and retrofitting would only be possible on Gen 11 systems (as per a credible source from Lexus that he mentioned). Not sure how accurate that is, but I guess we'll see....

^^^^That's news to me. I see no mention of a generation change for the system in Lexus's press release:

And, we have heard that Australian LCs are able to be retrofitted.

I'm aware of the Australian LC's - mentioned it in another thread:

Here's the discussion from FB that spoke about the Android Auto retrofit. A user in there was telling me that his sources say that it wouldn't be possible due to the Gen 10 vs Gen 11 navigation differences.

This does not address Android Auto but I had ZERO luck connecting Alexa in my 2019 until I ran this update from Lexus on Sunday (04/26/20.) Now that it connects I think it's kinda a gimmick but it's good to see it connect every time now...I do like the classic rock station though.

I never knew that we had the ability of updating the software via USB. Do these updates come often? Anyone else here updated theirs?

When CarPlay came out in 2019, the only way to get it on previous models was with a software upgrade via the USB service port.

Default mirror link solution

anyone try this work around,

from androidpolice

MirrorLink can still be used if the owners mirror their smartphones onto the infotainment display in the vehicle.

on your Android, go to “Settings” and find “MirrorLink” option. Take Samsung for example, open “Settings” > “Connections” > “More connection settings” > “MirrorLink”. After that, turn on “Connect to car via USB” to successfully connect your device. In this way, you can mirror Android to car with ease.
