The android auto hack is not for the car. Car will use the same version what it has. The hack is on a phone side which starts to allow all the apps to be used with android auto. So the car head unit is just a monitor with touch capability to control the apps. So you basically see the mirror of your device sort of.
I didn’t try it yet because I was not sure how phone connects to Wi-Fi camera. I was even thinking to make a legit AndroidAuto app which will work with camera, but there is a limitation from Google, it not allows to stream play any video when in drive mode. That’s why AndroidAuto hack comes in handy
I've decided to DIY the Apple CarPlay install on my OEM head unit. Very good instructions on how to get it done in a thread on this forum. Then I'll just use the Google maps that's available through CarPlay. 👍🏾 I only wanted the retrofit for the use of Google maps on the OEM screen, anyway. Music wise I either Qobuz through my phone, SiriusXM, or use the CD player.
Great install vid with a ton of good info. Almost made my own bracket like you guys did but I was satisfied with the view from the cross/crash bar. I would have gladly handed the car over to you guys for the install to the OEM screen but I'm in Atlanta, GA. lol...
Only thing I would have done differently was to use a black screw for the camera bracket or touched it up with a dab of black paint. Small thing I know, but some of us are "fickle" like that. 😝
Great install though. 👍🏾
