I noticed that when using the backup camera in nightime conditions the picture is quite grainy. I'm assuming it's a function of lighting. Is there any lighting mod that can make the picture less grainy?
you can adjust the contrast, brightness, etc. while in reverse. I forgot the exact steps but here it is. While in reverse (make sure you have the parking brake on and your foot on the brake. Press the DISP button and a menu should pop up allowing you to adjust the image solely for the reverse camera

That's great, I didn't know you could adjust the display settings for the backup camera. Thanks.
You need a Pioneer Receiver with HDMI switching, 1 monster HDMI cable...a soldering gun..an avocado and a snorkler. Trust me dude..Ive worked with less before.
i notice the graininess only at night while backing into my garage, maybe cause of the garage lighting? but thanks for the info about changing the settings, i'll check on that tonight.

maybe its just the garage lighting, the camera is actually exceptional at night compared to my Range rover 2006 one, they might as well not ave any backup camera for night at all. lol
Sorry if I'm stating the obvious and you've probably already done this but make sure the lens is clean. With a dirty lens, it still looks fine in the daytime. However, I can see the dirt when backing up in the dark.

I clean mine all the time too, especially with all the wind and rain we've been getting here.

merely adjusting the brightness/contrast of the display has no effect whatsoever on the graininess of the video, which is a result of the low light condition. Try taking a photo at night without flash, and you'll see the same graininess. Even nightscope pictures are grainy.
