Lexus LC 500: Cool, Lesser Known Details
By Brett Foote

The LC 500 has so many cool things going on that it's hard to cover them all. So here are five you might have missed.

Lame article BTW. If anyone didn't know any of those, they shouldn't be driving one.

One lesser known detail is that "random" playback of music is severely broken. Every time you turn off the ignition and restart, your "random" sequence resets and plays the SAME tracks. (1) it starts over every startup (after the current playing track complete), and (2) that "random" sequence is the same each and every time. Unbelievable fail on Lexus part.

For example, if you only drive 15 minutes each trip, and songs are 3 minutes on average. You will only ever hear the same 5 tracks for the rest of your LC ownership!

^Agree. These "details" are pretty obvious and have indeed been covered in many reviews. Here are the "Easter Eggs" I would have listed...
  • Windshield wipers disengage from the drive motor about 30 seconds after turning the ignition off, allowing one to move them freely along the windshield to raise them without hitting the hood.
  • The car has no amber lights mounted to the front bumper cover, which might make one wonder how this got DOT approved. The clever Lexus engineers designed the fender side-marker LEDs so they protrude ever so slightly... Just enough so they're visible from the front of the car when illuminated.
  • All the blinkers are amber LEDs (which is best for being noticed by other vehicles), and an amber blinker can be seen from every angle. Try it - turn your hazards on and walk around the car. There are no blinker blind spots.
  • Not only are the doors and trunk-lid built with exposed raw carbon fiber, but Lexus created really nice bolt-heads with "Lexus" imprinted on them - on the inner panels of the doors - which make a beautiful contrast against the raw carbon.
  • The headlight design is so low-profile and set so far back that they don't rotate while turning like other Lexus vehicles. Instead there's a 4th LED in each headlight assembly that shoots a (color-matched) beam at about 45-degrees while turning.
  • This one I've seen in some reviews, but gets missed a lot... The chrome trim pieces that run along the sides of the roof were intentionally designed to resemble a samurai sword (katana).
  • Not only is the grille designed with the well-known "spindle" look, but the rear of the car also encompasses the spindle look. And it doesn't end there... When viewed from above, the top-down profile also has the spindle look.

I was going to post earlier, but thought I'd hold back. Agree with Timbo. Lame indeed

Clearly the author is running out of stuff to write about. It is either lame or late.

I called Lexus customer service, they said there is a September software update coming out. They did not elaborate on what it actually updates.

Thanks for the info. Maybe start a thread on that update - to see if anyone else in here knows what it might be.

Easter Egg
I have this vehicle and I think one of the coolest features is that there is a mode where it will display the G-forces the car is experiencing in either of 4 axes (left/right or front/back). I love it!

Can the g-force meter display on the HUD?

And come we have no really cool front camera?

Did this really happen or was it bs from Lexus Customer Service? I'm inclined to think nothing happened nor does it seem anything is going to happen

I seem to remember hearing about a possible software upgrade to the shifting in the 2019 transmission. Maybe applicable to the 2018's.

Yes, there is supposed to be some alteration to the gearing in the 2019s but I haven't heard anything about it being applied to the 2018s.
