Lexus LC 500: Cool, Lesser Known Details

If you know anything about how Lexus operates, you already know that they're obsessive when it comes to details. And that's exactly what we love about them. Lexus has always taken things like quality to the extreme, constantly pushing the limits of what's possible.

But this obsession with detail also means that the average Lexus review fails to mention all of the cool features about each particular car. Because, well, there's just so many. Thus, we thought it'd be fun to point out some of the uncommon cool little details you might have missed on the stunning LC 500 coupe. 

Flush, Hidden Door Handles

Like most parts on the LC 500, the door handles are a true work of art. Obviously, the hidden door handles are nothing new in the automotive world. But many of those are difficult to reach or operate, which is rather annoying. That simply isn't the case with the LC 500, however. 

When the doors on the coupe unlock, the handles immediately present themselves for your convenience. And if you'd rather do it by hand, you can also press on the indented portion of the handle. On the inside, the door handle is a true metallic work of art as well, one that just simply works. Unlike many other overly fancy interior door handles of today's luxury cars.

LED Door Lock Indicator

Remember those silly pop up door locks? Or the ones that show a red tab to indicate that they're locked? It's hard to imagine that the humble door lock has failed to progress much in the automotive world, a place where everything else has evolved at warp speed.

Except in the LC, of course, which uses a bright LED light that glows when the doors are locked. When they aren't, well, it doesn't glow. So simple, yet so intuitive.

Futuristic Taillights

All modern Lexus models sport the brand's "L" shaped taillights, which hold some impressive and artfully shaped designs. But the LC takes things a step further by adding infinity mirrors. When the LED lighting in the taillights lights up, it's reflected back, creating a cascading effect that looks like something out of The Jetsons.

Glass-Covered Dash

Lexus is known for their incredible interiors, and the LC has one of the nicest we've ever seen. One of the most eye-popping features is that beautiful dash, which is covered in a pane of glass from the instrument panel to the passenger side air vent.

The passenger might not get to look at the cool digital display, but they are treated to a rather beautiful metal design that also looks quite lovely lit up in the dark.

Moving, Customizable Gauge Cluster

Speaking of the instrument panel, the LC's LFA-inspired display is truly mesmerizing. As you toggle through the driving modes, the display changes to suit each one. In Sport and Sport +, the tachometer is front and center. In Eco mode, it's more about green than red. And if all of that isn't enough, the whole thing can slide from the middle to the side to make room for other important data.

Meaning of Halo

One thing's for sure - when Lexus sets out to create something truly special, they never fail to deliver. The LC is about as special as they come, but it's also a car that'll teach you something new every day with another cool little detail you may have never noticed before!
