Default TSB: Brake Squeal (free replacement brakes!)

Gents (ladies?)

My dealership contact told me that the LC500 has a TSB (technical service bulletin) out for brake squealing. If you complain about brakes squealing, they will go ahead and replace them for free. Thus he suggested that i run out my brakes, then do the TSB and get a free brake job.

Just a heads up if youre going in to do brakes anytime soon.

I hope they hold their word. My understanding is that if it gets to some minimum they won't replace free of charge. Just something to keep in mind.

my guy said there isnt a minimal pad requirement on the TSB (it doesnt actually say that in the TSB either) so you can argue either way. Thats the first thing i asked him about.

I might be reading the TSB incorrectly but it seemed to say for model years 2018-2020

Bad...This is good info even tho I am currently not experiencing any issue. This TSB is old. Nobody told me anything bout it. I wonder if the squeal has to be verified before replacement. Also it does not reference any expiration date. So does it expire with the normal manufacturer's warranty on the vehicle?

I went back & reread TSB. It does reference manufacturer's warranty date. So most of the 2018 models would be exempt from coverage.

my dealer guy said it also applies to 2022.

They just giving everyone free pads, you might as well take advantage of it.

i dont know how it works down there, but up in Canada, your warranty could be expired and TSB's still apply.

My dads 400h is a good example of that. They had a TSB for brake actuator. his warranty long expired and we did those brake actuators in 2017 (his car is 2008).

Thanks Spock. I was aware of the brake pad issue but unaware that Lexus had issued a TSB to replace the pads for free. I thought owners were paying to swap out to the low dust pads. My bad. I personally like the high performance pads, but not the dust. My LC is covered with an 8yr warranty. So I may still be able to get in on this deal. (maybe) Rite now, it is not a high priority since I have such few miles. However, I will discuss the matter the next time I am in for service.

I got this a few months ago, meant to post it here but figured it was already covered. This Lexus TSB actually includes 2021 now. There's no ambiguity, if you're withing 4yrs/50k, you get new brakes.

I had my pads changed recently with the TSB. I have a 2021 LC, big difference no more squeal & alot less dust.

You didn't read it wrong. The TSB is dated April/20. Later model years were not in production as of date of TSB.

i thought squeal issue only happened to early LCs and that they changed the pads in recent years? i've not experienced any squealing at all on my '21.
