so don't holler at me. I started to use the Sticky on oil but after reading it and seeing it was mainly members bickering and calling names I decided against it. Also the last post was over 2 years ago, so here I am.
If you are content with the oil you use I'm not here to try and change your mind, however much that I have read about oil on these hallowed pages is complete bunk. Oil is by far the most important fluid you will use in your LC so I continue to use the same oil I have trusted for years. My Dad was a chemical engineer (PHD) in the automotive industry for 58yrs. A good friend of his worked for BMW in Germany and helped develop Liqui Moly for the BMW Racing Team and said it was the best oil for performance motors that could be had. If you are not concerned with the oil you use or think $10 a liter is to much, scroll on, if not your LC will thank you. I have no connections with this company

Best performing how? Where are the test results? Not saying this is bad oil but anyone can make "best" claims.
The issue with oil discussions is stuff like this, people come along and throw out there "this oil is the best and if you don't use it you're an idiot, my great uncle once sold oil in a store 40 years ago so I know"...then it becomes a mud throwing match that provides no value to anybody.
IMO the best thing you can do for your LC (or any car) as pertains to oil is to not wait to 10K to change it. Do it every 5k with a good quality oil and it will be great. I'd change it every 5K with AmazonBasics vs 10k with this if I had to make that choice.
I was simply passing on information, don't care what kind of oil anyone uses. Look up the awards won by Amazon Basics and make your own decision. Independant awards

I am under the impression that synthetic oil is superior to conventional oil (I could be wrong). Wouldn’t longer change intervals (10K miles) with synthetic offer better engine protection than 5K interval using conventional oil? I plan to purchase a Lc 500 sometime in 2025 and want to provide the best care within my limits.
Oil doesn't actually wear out it gets dirty, specifically it has deposits in suspension. Especially for turbocharged engines it doesn't matter how good the oil is in respect to friction reduction it will still get contaminated.

Change it every 5k with a high quality synthetic is what I am doing after my dealer freebies.

Choose a good quality synthetic oil and change it every 5k miles.
Good advice! I’ll stick with synthetic oil and change it every 5K miles. I plan to keep the LC 500 for a very long time time. I put 272K miles on my LS 400 purchased new in 1991. Never had any problems with that car in 14 years of ownership. The LC 500 seems to be built to a very similar quality.
Regardless of syn or regular, I would absolutely do it every 5k. In addition, at 1,000 miles I changed the oil and filter on my 24' and you could clearly see metal particles all over the oil filter. This is why I do it at 1k on my new cars. 24' Camry was same way. Every engine will have an initial break in period and metal particles will be in your oil. Changing at 1k gives it far less time to do no good. I shudder to think of having the original oil in your engine until 10k. In addition, remember, that original oil has been sitting in there since mfg. So 6-months may have already expired prior to even taking delivery of a new car. And finally, it is a pure joy to work on the LC 500. It is just as magnificent underneath, and super easy to do an oil/filter change.
