Default Backup Camera

Is there a way to rewire the backup camera to a switch so while your driving you can turn it on? My friend had a G35 with aftermarket navi/backupcamera and he had this setup, it was pretty cool for the passengers and plus, with dark tints, it could help out a little?

If anyone could figure this out...let us know!!

it shouldent be too hard...if someone could find the wire connection from the camera to the nav, maybe it could be as easy as installing a switch somewhere inbetween

You'd have to trace the wire between the gear selector and the Nav unit, then install a switch to supply +12 volts to it.

I believe that question was already answered in the very first post.

I think it would be helpful when your review mirror is shaking from the ML.

Or ground it. Probably worth subscribing to TIS for a circuit diagram before doing the wrong one.

Just hook up a switch to reverse the polarity of the camera and it will come on when the car is in "Drive" instead of when it's in "Reverse"

So what happens when you need to reverse?

hope it's not a lot of trouble to do this mod. a rear camera while driving is quite fun....for about two days; then you'll want to put it back.

yeah, thats why you would have a switch so you could change it back and forth..

I have not the Lexi circuit diagram manuals, nor I'm a very skilled technician
But I'm just waiting this info to open up my IS 220d and do all together the navigation hack and this new one...

Isn't anyone out there able (and so kind) to get the info we need?

A got the wiring diagrams for the NAV/radio etc. I have been looking at them now for a couple of days.
The camera is always on. What the switch does is activate the screen on the Nav system, however, it uses the same reverse switch as the ones for the reverse lights, etc. I have not found any other place where I could put a switch yet.

My thing no is that if I put a switch there, then the reverse lights will turn on everytime I wanna see the camera. Plus who knows what else is controlled by that switch.

I attached the wiring diagram if anyone wants to take a stab at it.
