Default Which Oil Filter?

So we're in a recession, and i don't want to spend 20 bucks on an oil filter...so i did some research and i THINK that the oil filter found in an IS F is the same filter used in a Toyota Tundra 5.7L....Part Number 04152-YZZA4...but it only costs 5.41 from Toyota....

Anyone know if this is true? I bought the Toyota part but i haven't gotten under my car to see if it's the same...

Try Lexus of Pemebroke... they are $3.73 each plus shipping. Total for 1 was under $5 shipped.

Item Number MSRP Core Price Price

$20 seams too high but $5.41 is definitely much better ..... I'll be checking that out for sure. Thanks,
C.

Purolator specifies the same filter element for a range of Lexus V-8s including the IS-F, but if you go to a site where you can search parts by part number and use the same part number for the other V-8s (04152-YZZA4), you will not find a listing for the IS-F, only the LX470.

I buy filters in a box of 10 because it's cheaper. There is a dealership selling the LX filters for $3.99. I've not seen cheaper, but it may well be out there.

What kind of oil filter does the F uses? I heard that it uses the WIX or WICK and not the canister one.

the F uses a cartridge style filter...so not your typical twist on filter. Anyways, bought the filter for the Toyota Tundra 5.7 V8 and it works fine....identical product.

I bought the filter for the first time at Lexus of Westminster because i didn't know any better.... Just sharing the info!

My car is happy now...new filter + mobil 1 0W-30 full synthetic

Update to this thread...

I bought the Purolator filter at Advance Auto the other day and tried to install it. No dice.

You can see how much more the Purolator sticks out of the housing in this shot:

When I pushed the Purolator down on the center tube, I found it binds on the outer diameter before it gets deep enough in the housing. I'm glad I had a Toyota filter just in case. Here's a side by side shot:

I also bought a funnel at Walmart I think many here will appreciate. See below:

It comes with a valve and a clear plastic hose so you can measure the fluid before you put it in, but if you unscrew the valve, the threads on the funnel allow you to screw the funnel right into the opening for the cap so you can pour as fast as the funnel will drain (pretty fast!) without spilling a drop. It works great and cost less than $4! It will work on most Scion/Toyota/Lexus vehicles too.

The correct Lexus Part number for the IS-F Oil Filter is 04152-51010, and its around $8 bucks if you pick it up discounted..

If someone here can confirm that the 04152-YZZA4 part number is the same exact filter element as the IS-F oil filter.. Then I will switch..

Otherwise I'm sticking to the right part number..

Whenever possible Lexus will reuse a part number if it can be crossed over to another model.. I don't see it happening in this case..

Look at post #3 in the attached thread:

http://www.lexusfforum.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1837

I just checked my filters, and they are the one's with the 51010 suffix.
