Though some of the smaller illustrations show it both ways

Lou,

Sorry if I missed it somewhere, but I remember you being a big proponent of the YZZA4. Was there something specific that made you switch to the WIX XP?

^^^^Yep, I was. But, doing more research over the course of time and specifically this post changed my mind:

Daniel is an expert in the field of lubricants. Sadily we won't be hearing more from him in this forum - He now drives a Tesla.

And, I never recommended the YZZA4 per se, in the past I said that IMO, the YZZA4 was equivalent to the 51010, and there was no need to spend the extra money. I still feel that way if you want to use a Toyota OEM filter.

It's all preference. Your car will run just as long with any of these filters as long as you are changing them properly and often. I change oils and filters every 3k miles. I use the K&N as well.

Thanks Lou. That was a great read, by the way.

Thread revival......

Has the issue or question of oil flow (or resistance to oil flow) ever came up with high performance oil filters?

I have used the K&N oil filter before, but was wondering if the superior filtration of the WIX XP filters would be more resistant to oil flow compared to the K&N? Thoughts on this guys....🤔

I just bought a dozen WIX oil filters. It will be interesting to see if the results from Blackstone change with them.

That will be interesting for sure! Did you get the regular 57041 or the XP version?

The XP version from RockAuto. Still not cheap, but worth trying.
