Not a fan. I drove an IS F like this from California to Texas. Way too loud.

I guess it's cool for a short period of time. Remove the primary cats and let me know how much you like that sound?

This definitely comes largely down to personal preference. I have my mufflers cut off and don't think its too loud. I think the stock headers/cats are restrictive enough it sounds just right to me. I've had many non-F owners say the same. I've also competed in a national level autocross event and was nowhere near breaking their sound limits (while many other cars did), for whatever that is worth.

If/when I put headers on I think it will be too loud at that point and I will put an aftermarket exhaust on it as well. With that said, I don't hoon it around on the streets too much so if you're that kind of driver you'll probably get a lot of unwanted attention.

Before the F I had a turbo S2000 with custom exhaust (no cats but it had a resonator and mufflers) and my wife always said that was too loud and she hasn't complained about the F once so yeah, just really depends.

Mufflers are purely for sound so I don't think you'll be "shooting debris behind" ... that would be if you removed the catalytic converters... and even then it would be fairly minimal... not like you are shooting rocks out of your exhaust or something.

I did this to my ISF. I loved it and lived with it for my almost 6 years of ownership, but wish I had just gone with the JoeZ before I sold it. Maybe I'm just getting old.

I think it is age. I have removed mufflers on cars in the past. I hate it now. My car is plenty loud with headers and JoeZ.

Another indicator of youth is resources. Young guys remove mufflers because they can’t afford exhaust (not knocking it, most of us have been there). As we get set in careers, we can finally afford to do it right.

LOL you're not kidding. Saved a bunch of cash to get a full 3 inch stainless exhaust on my turbo, only to realize that I couldn't tolerate it. That's why I'm curious of the exhaust cutout that was shown in one of the posts, or PPE dual exhaust.

100% I was more than lucky enough to be able to get my ISF when I was 17. Absolutely ridiculous first car but I am proud to say I babied that beautiful thing and ended up being able to sell it to another Lexus nut who always wanted one, and now we're good friends. Thats the best thing about the F's in my opinion. They breed a camaraderie that I haven't seen anywhere else. I miss my F everyday, even with my E63s now

I was running PPE headers and Borla catback... I loved the sound and raspiness, especially during downshifts, but the smell of exhaust fumes in my cabin from having no cats was unbearable. Ended up getting some high flow cats put on and it definitely smoothened out the throaty tones but didn't take away the exhaust fumes. Turns out, it was my trunk vents that were shot. I still feel like my car is A LOT quieter than most V8's I come across on the road; Hellcats, camaros, chargers, mustangs, all trucks, etc. Tempted to pull the mufflers off after my smog check this fall... my wife is going to hate it, but my kids are going to love it hahahah
