Anyone did a Muffler delete?
I has a Remark axleback installed about a week ago on my IS 300 RWD (same drivetrain as IS 200t), which is basically a muffler delete with wider piping. Here’s a copy & paste of my initial thoughts:
”I just had my Remark axleback installed. I was actually pretty terrified of how it could potentially sound. If there were any hints of fartcan, I was willing to immediately reinstall the OEM exhaust and lose the $360 + install costs.
I started it up and immediately fell in love with how deep it sounds. It sounds so good that it almost doesn’t even sound like a 4 cylinder until you get to high RPM. Even at high RPM, it still sounds great!
I will say, it is louder than expected. Honestly, probably 1.5x louder than I thought? It increases vibration/harshness a tad, especially with the rear seats folded down. It can just barely pass for stock-sounding but again, it is loud for someone who has never run aftermarket exhausts.“
The exhaust is loudest for me around 2,000 RPM and there is a bit of drone there, but only while actively accelerating. No notable drone while cruising. The drone is definitely livable and is definitely worth the great sound for me.
Here’s the most accurate example of what it sounds like in real life:
Here is Remark’s official video but the camera doesn’t catch some of the deeper growls. Additionally, the exhaust sounds raspier in this video than real life. I believe some rasp in the video is simply audio distortion:
And here is what the IS 350 sounds like. I have heard the drone is worse on the V6 models compared to turbo 4:

I did a muffler delete.. got got the car significantly louder, sounded good but after about 1 year I wanted it to be louder so I got the resonator cut off.. now it's super loud. I think it's perfect now although I have had my close friends / family ride in the car.. dad said "sounds like an airplane" (I think he was referring to the drone at 60-65mph).
Muffler delete drone is barely noticeable, resonator delete = a lot more drone.. go for it, you'll like it
