Default Is my 2010 differential LSD?

I've got a 2010 ISF that should come with an LSD, but I tested it and it doesn't behave like an LSD. I didn't bought the car new so there is a possibility it's not the factory one.

So I lifted the car up, with the engine running, in neutral, and one back tire would spin independently, while the other back tire was hold so that it doesn't spin. So the differential didn't have limited slip (or maybe I didn't do the test correctly).
This is the differential sticker, anyone knows something abut it?

You may have the electronic (brake actuated) LSD from the 08/09 model, instead of the mechanical Torsen LSD that the 2010’s are meant to have????

It may be the case. Or perhaps I didn't do the test correctly.

I read that unfortunately it doesn't help with identification, as the exterior is the same for 08-09 and 10+ LSD.

I was hoping someone could help me based on the info on the sticker.

Our torsens behave just like an open diff when in the air. You have to spin the driveshaft to find out. I bought mine brand new from the dealer for a great price a few years ago and I can tell you I was puzzled by it because you couldn’t see all the way through it but the part number indicated it’s a torsen. Check out this video to help you clear anything up.

You cannot test a Torsen LSD by lifting the car.

But yes, a 2010 IS F will have come with a Torsen LSD.

Do you have a steering wheel with blue bottom ?
If yes, you have LSD

But maybe you have a 2010, who was produce in late 2009. In this case, you don't have LSD

Nice
I am worried about the date on the sticker, 10.01.06 seems too old for 2010 car.

I put it in neutral, with the engine running, and the wheels were spinning (because of the torque converter and wheels in the air I guess). One wheel was held, but the other one was spinning. He held the wheel for a few seconds, I don't remember exactly how many. Maybe the Torsen LSD needs more spin to kick in? I'll do the test one more time in drive and holding the wheel for longer.

>You cannot test a Torsen LSD by lifting the car.
If the engine is running, in drive, that seems to simulate conditions on the street.
Is that a good test?

Yup, the bottom is blue leather, it also has the 2010 rims.

Also bonus: video of the sound without exhaust. It is extremely loud, that can't be captured on audio. But as a reference imagine that is twice as loud as heard in the video.

As previously mentioned, you can't test the lsd this way because our LSDs sort of behave like open differentials when one wheel is completely off the ground.

If you lift the car up, put it in drive and hold one wheel you'll most likely engage the e-lsd.

That sounds interesting, I would think a LSD should work when a wheel is off the ground/looses traction.
I guess e-lsd shouldn't be present since there is mechanical LSD. In any case I disabled traction control and ESP.

"10.01.06" would seem to denote January 6th 2010, which seems correct and the 58J sticker seem correct.

As a note, the E-LSD functionality is present in all cars regardless if Torsen or "Open" diff as a Torsen will behave as an open differential if one tire is off the ground as the torsen requires one wheel to have at least some grip to work.

At this point, it seems you really need to get in the car and try to do some doughnuts (after the car is warmed up) with the long press on the traction control and this will remove all doubt for you.

See the two videos below to see how the car will behave is open or Torsen limited slip:

https://www.clublexus.com/forums/is-...ml#post7652982

You will see the 08 car travels in a circle and does not want to spin around while frying the inside tire. The 10 car turns and spins the whole car around and lights up both tires no issue.

Thanks man, really helpful info. BTW I was reading the date wrong DD/MM/YY instead of YY/MM/DD

There are no 2010 model year IS F's without an LSD. All 2010 MY IS F's produced from August, 2009 will have a Torsen LSD.

You're right, my mistake. It's when a true 2009 is sold and registered in 2010, seen it one time when I was searching for mine, a 2010 registered one but without LSD and blue bottom steering wheel
