Key fob
For those who followed my accident post, I just got my car back. Yay!
So now I have a spare key fob that works for starting the car (by putting the fob close to the start button), but it does not unlock/lock/pop trunk and isn't detected by the car when I do drive. Replaced the battery, still no working. What could be wrong? Does Lexus does a two-step programming with this key fob?

Bump with updates:
Dealer looked and said they will need to erase all existing keys within the module and try to program a new key in. $370...for one key.
And that's if the module is working. Otherwise, it's $2000+ for a new computer.... any ideas?

Hmm. Well I can tell you that programming the fob is fairly easy assuming you have techstream. I wouldn't call it a two step programming but the process does require you to have the fob on the start button and then on the passenger seat.
Also, if I remember correctly, the car holds up to 5 keys in memory; it's strange if the fob was working and then stopped. If all 5 slots are full you would have to wipe all and then reprogram all keys again or in your case, just the one.

Will report back, but it is strange that such a simple task cannot be done. And how exactly do you damage a module via programming? As far as software goes, I know enough that memory partitioned for specific allocation can easily be "reset" via flashing aka systemic wipe. So I am not sure how this module can be damaged via programming as the dealer cautioned.

Update:
Dealer said the ECM or the immobilzer is "locked out" due to attempted programming from before. What.
Found a procedure that may help with this, but not sure if it's applicable. Any help?

Basically a SB from Lexus' TSI in 2016 that's applicable up to 2017 (revised 2).
