Default Can I add a Key Fob/remote?

My car came with one key, and when I lock the doors from the inside and shut them, then try to open the car with the key, the alarm goes off. I have to open the passenger side door with my key to reset the alarm.

How do I tell if this is a master key? Can I order a key fob from ebay and program it, or can I order a key fob attached to a black key and have it cut and programmed?

Thanks

does the key have a small button on it or is it just a normal key

the normal key i have for my car will lock and unlock the door and there is a keyless remote that i would use to lock the door as im walking away.

i had a parts car that had a small button on the key that would auto unlock the windows when u put the key in

it would be better if u posted a pic so we can see what u are talking about.

It's just a stand alone key with no buttons. Here's a photo:

97 is the long key so I doubt you could add a short key remote as all of the keys remotes seem to be short but I think all you would have to do is match the fcc is code on the back of the other remote you have that is if you can find a long key with a remote head.

I don't understand, Id rather not get a key cut, but would prefer to just add a stand alone remote. Is that possible?

Yes you should have a standalone remote now so just match the fcc id on the back to the used one you are looking to buy but I think a dealer has to program it but there may be a was to diy as well however I don't know about it if there is.

I don't have a remote to look at for an FCC ID. I am confused. All I have is a key.

No no, I just want to buy an oem lexus key fob on ebay and program it to work on my car.

I'm afraid the alarm is going to go off again if I lock the car, and I want to have a remote to disarm it. Last time I locked the doors from the inside the alarm went off when i opened it with the key.

this is the back of my remote the top line is the FCC ID of the remote. each number has its own mean to what it does so all xspsi6 is saying is to find a keyfob with the matching FCC ID to your car

i would guess that you can find out the FCC ID to your car by calling your local lexus dealer and giving them your entire VIN then go from there.

you could always just lock/unlock the doors with the key in the door if you dont want to bother getting a remote
