2012CY DVD Navigation Update
Just received an e-mail from sewell Parts about the DVD navigation update, price is at $165.92. Is it worth the money to get it ?

I got the same email and was wondering the same thing. My 08 navigation maps seems a bit outdated...
I also want the dvd in motion override but I'm hesitant to buy the plug-n-play harness because I don't want to open up/take out the climate control unit...

^if your that worried an audio shop will do it for 1 hr of labor so between 50-75 dollars. Its worth it. Back to the Nav update...I got lucky on a 2011 update and even that wasent really worth it. On my IS250 I got the 2010 update for cheap and that was worth it. Are you in an area that is constantly being developed? If not find a cheap 2010 disc and call it a day. The benefit of that update was that you dont have to push I agree anymore.
I updated because the old disc that came with the car didn't even show the street I was living on. Install is pretty easy the thin screwdrivers needed to pop the clock off are in the spine of the toolkit in the trunk.

I've been thinking of tracking down an older (but newer than 08) dvd update. I like the idea of saving some money going back a year or so. I really don't think $150+ is a reasonable price given that most people have cellphones now with google maps free on them.
The dvd override is awesome, especially if you listen to a lot of concert DVDs. No need to pull over just to press Play.
And honestly, it's super easy to install the override. Took me maybe 30 mins. The next time I have to do it it'll probably be about 10-15 mins. The only trick is the vents, but you just need to be gentle.
