Default Key fob reprogram issue...

Took my car to the dealer to get a key reprogrammed and they said it wasn't working... my car only came with one key so I found one on ebay for 50 bucks.. I have an 09 isf. The key is from 2011 isf. Should that make a difference? Should I try another dealer?

Have you checked that it has a fresh battery? Might want to check for damage inside..

The fob is perfect. He stated that the key fob was registered to another car and it wouldn't let reprogram. Are these things one time program?

I stumbled upon this link.

http://my.is/forums/f221/diy-key-reprogramming-334593/

Im assuming I can't reprogram my own key fob because of putting the key in the ignition..

This is the link i was given from the person that i bought the is key fob from. To my understanding this wouldn't work.. 2009 isf push button start

Can someone confirm this..

Yes, you're looking at instructions for an IS300 (1IS). The security system is completely different than the keyfob system in the 2IS. There is no way to add a key to a 2IS without a Techstream enabled computer and a locksmith account on TIS.

The link provided by MercuryISF was helpful. But given the different fobs for different cars, not to mention different years, I can only assume that there might be different instructions for various fobs and vehicles. Is this correct?

I'm looking for programming instructions for a 2008 RX 400h - new key bought off eBay.

Any help would be sincerely appreciated! Thanks!

If the extra key has already been programed to another car lexus would have to reflash "master reset" the ecu to add the extra key. I would just buy a new key because its cheaper in the long run to add the key which is 50-75$ or $200 which was what I was quoted to do a master reset. Buy the key from sewell and save some extra $$.

I agree. I got taken for $50 on EBAY buying a supposedly "new" FOB for my IS250 a few years ago. When I tried to register it on techstream it failed. Now I have a paper weight. I guess it's my own fault for thinking I could get a new FOB for $50.
Go with a new one from a reputable source like Sewell Lexus.

If you lost your FOB some insurance company's cover a replacement under your insurance policy. I have Amica and they replace one for us including the cost of programming.

hrmm.... I should check with my insurance company as well. My car only came with one Key Fob...I ended up buying a used fob off a member on here for $35 since I called a local lock smith who said he could do the master reset and program this used key. I just don't know if they were just saying that or if he can really do it but I'll find out next week after I book an appointment.

Your current FCCID needs to match the FCCID on the new remote as well. I believe our ISF fobs use the FCCID: HYQ14AAB
