Sikky headers seem to be the best bang for your buck. Splat's car has the higher whp due to being at 400whp with the help of the polished manifold.

I asked the same question on LexusF and i will ask in this thread.

One thing that i see missing from all of these dynos are display and discussion of A/F ratios. Are you putting an O2 sensor when you dyno these cars? How do we know that these cars with all the increase air flow are not running lean as hell and producing the increased horse power and torque? I am not saying that is what happening. But as many cars i have modded in the past a dyno without having the AF tracing is pretty useless in my opinion.

Since no ECU tuning is being done you have no control over fuel or timing it would be very important to make sure what the AF ratio is during the run.

I'm pretty sure the factory ecu corrects itself after about 250 miles to make sure the car is running properly. I'll try to find out the info for you though

Most factory ECUs correct themselves by pulling timing etc instead of adding fuel. I know in the case of the supercharged V8 MB engines in the E55/SL55 cars would run lean and evetually pull timing.

So even after installation of bolt ons power would be up but they would run AFR of like 13 which won't make your engine last too long. No matter what I am surprised that any company be it Sikky or Elite is modifying a car to add 50whp without monitoring air fuel ratios.

I visited an empty parking lot this evening and decided to have a little fun. This car really needs some 275's in the back! Anyway, this is what the car sounds like with the SIKKY headers and the PTS JoeZ exhaust. I love it! I have about 400 miles on the headers now with no CEL and nothing but smiles.

I dunno man, Its cool getting the peak HP up, but it sounds a little fluttery for my taste. There something about a tuned exhasut sound that just does not come from adding a bigger pipe. Props to the development and further performance options from both companies. Not motivated yet. I would also like to see AFR's on the dynos, there is a lot more that just closing the loop...like retrograde mixing and certain assumptions made in backpressure during factory tuning. If the injection pulse timing is made with certain assumptions about where the charge is are all things equal when allowing that charge to escape partially? A double edge sword. That seems to always be the problem with tuning the lexus platform...or not tuning. There are so many thermodynamic properties that are modeled when they design these engines, its not just as simple as no CEL's...what is truly the result of the new flow dynamics and mixture...on all cylinders, not just those with an o2 bungs.

^^^Agree with FIGS 100%. Another thing that would be prudent is for one of these shops to check timing on a stock car in 6th gear pull and also do it again after the upgrades to make sure the car is not pulling timing. Heck it is possible that you could be making more than 30-50whp with all the upgrades but the car is pulling timing. If the car is pulling timing your EGTs would be higher which would have a negative effect on the longevity of that engine. And EGTs are completely separate from AFRs. You can be running a perfect 11.5:1 air fuel ratio but the car can be pulling timing causing your EGTs to be high. I am not saying that every car needs an EGT but at least during development phase i would want to make sure all those parameters are in check.

My buddy with an LS3 gained ~120whp with exhaust, headers, cams and a TUNE. Without the tune he had gained only ~80whp and when checking parameters, EGTs were too high, he was running a little lean etc. Obviously this is not an LS3 engine, but shows that you cant just throw a set of exhaust, header and intake on an LS3 and not tune it and just say "the ECU will take care of it." And all the top shops recommend for you to tune the ECU whether you install cams or not.

Great Video.... . I'm also interested in the EGTs and AF ratio's as well...

If the EGTs are off we really don't have a way to tune this do we?
