For those running Renewable Lubricants PCMO SHP 5w-30 - They're having a huge sale on quart bottles right now. $3.99 a quart, $42.00 for a case of 12. I just bought 4 cases myself because it's stupid cheap even compared to the 5 gallon pails I normally order. They say they had a big order cancel, so they're overstocked. Get them while you can!

I'm considering purchasing the Renewablelube oil based on what I've read. I've used Shell Rotella T6 in everything since 2010 (gasoline cars, diesel cars, and motorcycles). So, I was searching, and managed to find an additional 10% off. The coupon code "known10" functions.

Rotella is one of the worst possible choices for gasoline engines, and a poor choice for diesel engines. I wouldn't run it in my dog's lawnmower.

 

Switched labs from Tribologik to SPEEDiagnostix. Much better customer experience with insightful analysis and helpful YT video library.

In my UOA data, RLI PCMO has had the best wear metals per 1,000 miles metric.

What does SPEEDiagnostix sample processing cost?

 

"Standard" analysis reports such as AAA-9877 above cost $59.99, and includes FTIR Spectroscopy, RDE Elemental Spectroscopy, and Kinematic Viscosity measurements. Order form is here. Processing speed is 7 business days but can be accelerated to 3 days by doubling the fee. Sample kits ship with a 3oz container and a USPS box for return shipping. I emailed Lake the historical trending data from the other lab to help inform current analyses.

I am not sure if their lab is ISO-certified, as @danielTRLK had recommended several years ago. I asked but did not get a complete answer.

 

This my first UOA. Been using QS Full Synthetic for the last couple years. Pretty happy with the numbers.

 

There's a lot of MoS2 in that oil! Your iron numbers are excellent.

 

Looks like I forgot to post this one. All good still. The previous one with the high iron had some maintenance that might have got a little contamination in the oil.

 

Latest UOA from RLI PCMO 5W-30 enclosed (sample taken at 150,635 miles).
Curiously high Iron count this interval, not sure why.
RLI PCMO has very little MoS2.
Wear / 1000 miles metric corrected for previous sample.

AAB-5244: "OTHER" = RLI PCMO
AAA-9877: "PENNZOIL" = Pennzoil Ultra Platinum

OEMTools 87024 is a thread-in oil funnel that eliminates spills.
Sturdy and well-made, the best I have ever used, makes all other oil funnels irrelevant.
I got mine from JEG's, but best price now appears to be Autozone.
