Default Volume level on ML?

Hey everyone, I just picked up my blue IS-F.

I was just wondering what the typical volume level was for the ML/Nav unit? I keep mine in the 30s and it doesn't sound that loud. What does everyone set the volume at and what is the max for the unit? I just don't want to damage anything.

thanks!

Don't know what the max is but have you messed with any of the settings? Bass, treble, etc.?

I agree, it doesn't sound too loud but oh well

Not sure what the max is but when I really want to hear a song it comfortably goes to 50-55. That's plenty loud enough for me

The max is 62 on mine...but its a pre-production...so it might be different on other cars. Even at its loudest it still sounds really clear..no distortion at all...but I'm no audiophile so take my opinion with a grain of salt

Depend on individual. I am usually on 30, and I think it's just right for me, but my girlfriend will complain too loud and will lower it to 20.

Is it just me or does the volume of the stereo increase with speed (i.e. speed sensitive)?

yes it does.. the car has a built in microphone so when traveling at highspeeds the volume will automatically raise.

its called Automatic Sound Levelizer (ASL) you have to turn it on under the audio settings for it to work

And compared to the ASL in my 2000 GS it is way more obtrusive/obvious when it boosts the level. The GS was almost perfect.

I haven't gotten close to 62 yet so I don't know how high mine would go.

Mine goes up to 62 I think. I usually keep it around 35-40.. 40-45 with my windows down.

Ahhh.. so thats what ASL means. Good to know thanks.

I normally put it in the mid 30s but I also have a 10' sub in the back so it sounds nice and clean when playing the DVD/CD or my iPod. However, if FM radio is on, it is in the mid 40s.

different types of sound naturally are better at certain levels.. if you are listening say a AM station.. you would only need 15 or so... but listening to songs of different genres sound better in the higher numbers to get the surround sound effect

Did you put an after market sub in?
