Me too, and I am ashamed of it b/c I am onlt 32 years old! Usually listening to a bit of Dragon Ash.
If you can hear the music at 12 then you are not driving the car hard enough! ha ha j/k. I tend to listen to classical music and soundtracks, so I need to blast it when I'm driving in order to hear the more quiet segments in the music.

I had mine up this weekend, mostly do to an older poor quality disc. I had been playing music a little loud for a while, sound cut off, then no volume control on the unit or steering wheel. Also, Bass mid treb controls would not work, nor phone volume. After turning the car off and back on, everything worked. I'm not sure if the amp got hot or if it is another problem. I'll have them check it out during the first service.

Other than that, it has been loud enough, ususally listen around 15-20 on the volume.

mines sounds nice... you might have trouble because by switching say to satellite to FM.. you got to redo the controls...

each audio feature has its own settings (to make it sound the best to you) IE. Satellite, CD, AUX, FM/AM

It does sound average, nothing great. When I got my car I was excited about the ML system, but once I tried it I felt like I did a huge downgrade from my previous car. I had MQ Quart amps, Polk Momo component speakers, top of the line Premier head unit, high quality wiring, etc, and trust me, the ML sounds like AM radio compared to that system. One thing that I found though is that playing music from an iPod (using the iPod interface, not the auxiliary input) sounds better than playing the same mp3 burned on a CD, that shows you that the ML's mp3 decoder is not as good as the iPod decoder.

Yeah I second that - anyone who is into car systems..will tell you this is the weakest Upgrade system out there...its clear but it is SOOOO not a big deal
I had an IS350 without the ML and its just not as crispy as the ML but just as loud and pound for pound sounds just as good
...ML is just like the BOSE system in the Infiniti's - just all name and not much BANG and BOOM ...sound like a nice stock system but as far as sound like -" wow "...nah needs much more bass and volume

and yes I thought "thats it?" when i had my volume at 30 also
disappointed---but whatever---I LOVE THE exhaust sound better!!--Ha Ha

40 for most cds, when i wanna listen loud, older cds 43ish
due to the older mastering levels
30 when im by myself, not really listening, just driving
20 to 25 ish when someone who ur speaking with is in the car
maybe even a tad lower

on a side note, i enjoy the sound in the car, its very clear and u can pick up a lot of the lower frequencies in ur tunes, although thats mainly due to the lack of outside noise.
but they do sound like quality

excessive bass where u cant here the mids and the grunt of the highs are not my thing
and in 80% of cases
the people who created that beautiful piece of work did not intend it to be herd that way either

20-25 freeway, 15-20 on surface streets. Don't want to lose any more of my hearing than I already have!
