Default Headers Install Prices

I was wondering what is the ideal price range one should pay to get headers installed?

And if anyone knows any reputable shops in the GTA (Toronto, Canada), let me know.

Years ago when I got mine installed, there were only a few places around that were willing to tackle the job... I got quotes ranging from $800 USD to $1600. I'd assume its still around the same pricing now a days.

I would think it depends on where and who you know. A mechanic who is familiar with the job will charge around 6-8 hours, while a shop that goes by the book may quote you around 12 hours + tax and fees. Hard to assume what the labor rate is in your area and then factor in an alignment.
Your situation will be different but that is what I went through when I got mine installed many years ago. Don't forget new manifold gaskets, and consider doing your starter and engine mounts.

I do work myself so can’t help with pricing but
in addition to the header gaskets and engine mounts Id also look at: Heat insulation fiberglass wrap and tape for the starter AND wiring going to it, as well as any other harnesses that will now be baked. They also make nice little covers for starters. Steel zip ties usually fasten them. Also consider buying new oxygen sensors - they tend to get stripped very often for some reason on these cars.

I was quoted a little over $2k for a header install from a reputable shop here in Washington State. (See Below.)

I declined.

I’m mechanically inclined, so I’ll just do the install myself. 🤷🏿‍♂️

looks in line with what I experienced when I got quotes about 6 years ago (~$1500). Was this Ishi Mortorsports or Stage Auto? Both good shops but yea, will charge by/close to the book and shop rates, shop supplies and sales tax.
FWIW, I paid $800 cash back in the day at a well known shop in Kent.

The only issue with self install is having the necessary selection of tools to tighten the headers. Getting to the nuts with the engine in the car is challenging to say the least. I used an combination of an offset flare socket and a 1/4" universal swivel to get to the difficult ones.

As somoene that is planning to do this install this year. Would you recommend sticking with that combo or maybe a combined set of flexhead flare nut sockets?

I magnetized a mid length (semi deep) socket to get the nuts on the studs.
