Going to toss this out there as a guess - if it's doing OP SUSPENDED after it's fully closed, it's likely one of the last close sensors is malfunctioning.
My 2 cents of advice - have someone go stand behind the trunk and press down HARD where the trunk meets the roof. See if that causes the error to go away or at least maybe see if the message switches to COMPLETE.
Hey bro , new to this forum , i have 2010 IS250C , convertible tope works perfectly fine but when the roof is fully closed it says operation complete then suddenly operation suspended and warning signs and keeps beeping while driving which is really annoying and warning says half roof open but it shuts perfectly fine no leaks either but when the roof is open no warnings at all it says operation complete, i hooked it up with Xtool scanner and got code B256C ( Lock in side package tray motor LH circuit) i couldn’t really figure which sensor is bad any help from anyone would be highly appreciated cz i couldn’t find any related articles or videos anywhere. Thanks
I purchased 3 microswitches from the link provided here, they are different than the ones i was replacing, the alignment pin and bolthole are frther apart than stock. Theydo fit in other locations just not on the one i needed. The half cent piece of metal that actuates was missing on one, repaired and rewired 2 after they tested good,
and 200 dollars worth of hinge assemblies to rob switches,, that didnt work. I am trying to find a mobile mechanic with techstream software that can interface with ECU for top and tell me which one it is. If anyone knows of one in Dallas area PLEASE LET ME KNOW
hello sir. i’m having the same roof issue, rear window switch. also located in dallas wondering if you got the roof fixed. if so, by who and how. thanks.
I haven't had any issues with my hardtop until yesterday, when I tried to open it. It began the opening process for a few seconds and suddenly stopped! The trunk is now slightly ajar (maybe 2cm open) from the rear windshield and I can't seem to get this top to close or open! I also can't access the trunk at all given the roof hasn't opened enough.
There are 2 error messages toggling:
Op Suspended
Check Retractable Hardtop System
I have tried the following without success:
Disconnected the battery for 20 mins and reconnected

Mine did that sometimes and the. Next day not at all, it was not fun to try to figure out. I had the dealer check it and found no codes or history of codes. So one day I was at the car wash and used a light air hose to blow out everywhere there was a sensor. I then read where alignment can cause an issue so I opened the trunk and lightly rocked it back and forth. I know it sounds crazy but it hasn’t alarmed for two months. I also made sure the up down switch was tightly pressed together by taking it out and checking. It wasn’t snapped together snuggly. Hope this helps but so far all is well with my IS250 C
Hi Guys, I had a similar issue, didn't fix it before I sold it last week. My issue was when opening the top, it would complete the operation, error out when I try to close it. It said to "Check retractable top system". To solve for my car, I would open the trunk, use the Yellow pull latches to unlock the trunk from it's latches next to the scissor looking arms. Pull and lift on both sides then push it back down to reseat it into the latch. Close the trunk and pull battery terminal. Reattach battery and was able to close my top every time.
After a few times, I realized I could just pull the battery terminal and it worked for me.
Hello, if anyone can help me identify this piece or have a part number for it I would be greatly appreciated. The one on my daughters car broke yesterday, it is the little back piece by the 2 red arrows.
@pjoeltyler Were you able to find a fix for this? I got a 2010 IS350C just under a week ago and am having what looks like a real similar problem.
I was driving on what ended up being a bad battery in pretty cold weather, and I feel like trying to put the top up ended up being too much on the battery (this is mostly just my random theory, though the battery did give out the next morning). If anyone's got any thoughts I'd be super grateful; this is my first car so I don't know a ton about this so far!

Not sure how to edit my last post, but wanted to post a follow up here. I seemed to have the same issue as @pjoeltyler when trying to open/close the convertible top. With just slight pressure, I was able to get the part that was sticking up down mostly flat. At that point the car drove fine (as far as I could tell) but kept beeping at me since the close operation wasn't fully complete, and it still wouldn't complete it when pressing the button for it. I went to the dealership today, and they were able to fix this up. They said that all they did was pull on the black "flap" looking piece until it was back in place. Then I guess the car recognized that it was in fully open mode, and they were able to close it back up. They strongly advised that I not try to open the top again without another diagnosis (which also will cost at least $500!). Anyone else with the same issue might be able to fix it in the same way, but I guess do so at your own risk. The dealership folks really emphasized that they didn't know if they could close it up again if I tried to open the top and it got stuck. I've decided to hold off on the inspection since we're getting into the winter months anyways, and re-evaluate closer to Spring (or as soon as I get too antsy). I'll try and update here whenever that happens though, to try and help others know what might be the solution.
Hey all, new to the forum. Having read through previous posts, I think someone here should be able to help me! My wife's convertible hardtop has stopped working. I have a code stating the package tray no.1 is off when it should be on. IThe switch should show as on since the roof is up. My problem is, I cant find the switch to test/troubleshhot! Do I have to remove the entire package tray assembly or is it accessible while still in the vehicle? Thanks in advance!

Your best bet is to get your hands on a OBDII to USB adapter and install Toyota Techstream on a laptop. That is going to help you narrow down exactly which switch is not working. I do not believe you need to remove the entire packing tray to access certain broken switches, there have been some people on here who have had luck with replacing individual broken pieces.
I Have a 2010 IS 350 C, made in 2009. So far this car, roof and all, has had nothing major happen. Side and rear mirrors have become loose and that's it.
Mostly garage kept, 80,000 miles. Most reliable car I have ever owed. Hope this doesn't jink me.
I plan on tackling this and repairing whatever sensor , etc is causing the issue.. In the meantime does anyone know how to disable the "beeping" alert. Our top is fully closed and secure but the d%$m alert is painful and driving my wife nuts.. Maybe a fuse or just a connection / wire I can pull until I can get the time to dig into the trunk and figure out what the issue is.. Thanks!
