That oil standard is met by all good oils currently on the market, both Dino and Synthetic.
I don’t disagree with you, I’d rather be putting synth amsoil in, but a point was made to me that it needed to be dino, was just bugging me I didn’t know why.
I am old school and have no problem with Dino oils, but I would change every 3,000 miles. Some Dino oils vs synthetic are a little heavier grade for grade. Having said that, I run full synthetic 5w-30 Pennzoil Ultra Platinum with a Toyota/Lexus oil filter and will still never go more than 5,000 for the oil change interval. I will actually more than likely change it closer to 3,000 than 5,000. Lastly, I will NEVER use a non API approved oil in anything with a warranty. Once warranty is up, there are some great oils out there like Amsoil Signiture Series that lack the API certification that I'd use.
