Default Lexus Accepted my Allocation!!!!!

UPDATE POST #33

UPDATE POST #16

After seven months of patiently waiting I finally got the call, dealer let me know this morning. My USB has a production date in mid July! Late August - September is my guess when it'll arrive.

I have a few questions if anyone could kindly point me in the right direction.
  1. I've never done PPF before but plan to do the front half of this vehicle. What's an acceptable price? One shop quoted me $2400 for half ppf and ceramic window tint.
  2. Where can I find genuine OEM Lexus side window visors? I found some on lexusboutique.net but are there other vendors or ones with chrome molding?
  3. Are these front door stabilizers legitimate? lexusboutique.net Anyone try them before?
  4. Has anyone tried these 3D printed floor AC ducts that claim they improve ventilation in the seats? etsy
  5. Are there sway bar upgrades for the IS500? What I loved about the 2IS was all the F-Sport accessories support. I had the F-Sport Sway bars and chassis brace.
  6. I had a JUN-TW strut bar on my 2008 IS350, I've seen a Blitz strut bar with a similar design installed on an IS500 somewhere on here. Any vendors for this?
  7. Break-In period? First 1000 miles anything special? I've never had a V8 only V6's
  8. I had the F-Sport BBK (Stoptech) 6 piston front /4 piston rear on the '08 350 and became accustomed to the commanding stopping power. For the GSF/RCF front BBK upgrade what are the part numbers for the 380mm slotted rotors Left and Right and the OEM brake pads. I think those are the only things missing from the list below. There is no OEM solution for the rear EPB currently, correct?

CONGRATS!!!! THIS IS FANTASTIC NEWS!! Talk about getting it down to the wire!

I can't comment much on any of your questions except #7 - The same principle applies in that you don't want to do too long distance at the same speed, no harsh acceleration (push the red line) - Some have done an oil change at 1000 miles, personally I didn't and not sure it is required but it boils down to whether you want to be over cautious. I figure that the owner's manual should be a good indication of the schedule to follow but I don't want to start a debate on here about usefulness of rapid oil change.

@Hoovey689 Congrats!!

I can only definitively answer a few questions...

The PPF sounds reasonable IMO, especially since they are throwing in the window tint.
Those look like the legit door stabilizers. Generally have heard good things about them and almost bought them on a whim lol. Supposedly they work.
The break-in is 621 miles or 1,000 kilometers. During that time, just be easy on the gas (i.e., no WOT, below 4,000 RPM) and no long-distance cruising at a set RPM (vary your speed) as well as avoiding harsh braking and cornering. I would be surprised if most owners actually stick to this. I exceeded 4,000 RPM a couple times toward the end, not going to lie. 21,000 miles later, nothing has blown up despite my spirited driving.
From what I have seen, STRUT bars for the IS 350 generally also will fit the IS 500. For example, the Blitz and Megan Racing and Tom's Racing all fit.

Congrats Hoovey! Welcome to the 500 club.

As Alex mentioned break in is only 621 miles. Just vary your rpms and no hooligan driving.

As far as the brakes go, your 2025 BBS wheels may be able to fit the upgraded brakes from the Ultimate Edition. I'm not 100% sure on that yet though.

Do you still have your 08 350?

PPF pricing sounds good. Find out what brand of film they're using and their warranty. Generally with PPF you want to pick the best installer over the best PPF material. The installation labor is the bulk of the cost and you want a good installer that will hide edges where possible and not cut your precious paint job when trimming. Ask to see some finished customer vehicles and make sure you like what you see.

Thank you all. This car means a lot to me. I always wanted an Ultrasonic Blue IS F and this is the closest thing to its spiritual successor. I'm finally in a position in life to go after it, and just in time too before it goes away so I'm blessed. My first cars were a 2004 Mustang V6 and a 2003 Explorer V6. The 2008 IS350 was my first car I bought and I got bit by the mod bug and joy of driving. I had my 2008 IS350 dialed in response, handling, braking it was a joy (parts list here first page). I put 169,000 miles on it and I would have kept it but life events happen. I inherited the car I'm driving now a stock 2012 IS350 with 33,000 and I didn't need two IS's. It's got 80,000 miles now but I've lost my joy of driving. I'm hoping the IS 500 will bring back the joy back.

Thank you! I appreciate your excitement, I wanted to do backflips. I'll be sure to follow that thanks. Typically I do every 5000 miles for an oil change.

I just got off the phone with another shop estimate they'll do XR Plus window tint and XPEL PPF for $2300. They appear to have more reviews and experience than the first shop. I have one more to call.
I might try those stabilizers somewhere down the line.
621 miles thank you.
The F-Sport swaybars on the 2IS were probably one of the best bang for your buck improvements 19mm vs stock 16mm. I'll have to do a bit more research on options. Do we know the stock rear sway bar size in mm?

Thank you!! I'll do my best. My commute is only 6.5 miles, I'll have to do more random drives to get some miles. That's a great idea on UE brakes.
Sadly no, I sold it shortly after inheriting the 2012. I'll post a few photos below

Remember Lexus first teaser shots of the exhaust with blue flames shooting out of it? Freakin sweet! Man...2008 feels like 2 lifetimes ago lol.

I don't remember what my excuse for passing up the IS F was, but it felt like a major missed opportunity. I did the same thing with the C55 AMG. I could have easily afforded one in 05-06. When the IS 500 was announced there was no way I was passing again.

Very interesting to hear losing your joy of driving. I went through something similar before covid happened. I mostly enjoy driving again, particularly early Saturday and Sunday mornings.
Those X package wheels are so beautiful.

My bad, I was thinking of strut tower bars. Ignore me...

It was an exciting time for Lexus and really helped elevate the brands performance cache. I do remember that image or one like it

I hear you

I'm glad you found it again. I I used to make playlists and go on drives with no destination, or spend hours getting lost detailing. I think this car will bring me back somewhat.

No worries, I also inquired about strut tower bars

I had full XPEL PPF with free XPEL XR Plus tint, and ceramic coating for around $5k CAD.

The PPF saved me a lot of scratches from highway driving and Costco carts.

Ask if you can further get a discount if you pay in cash.

full front end PPF should run about $1900-2200 on average.

Congrats!! I paid $3000 USD for the XPEL brand, ceramic coating (5 years), polishing, and paint correction.

PPF included:
-Entire hood
-Bumper & air intakes
-Headlights
-Mirror Caps
-A Pillars
-Fenders
-The lower rear area before and after the wheel.

I’d also get the area between the windshield and the sunroof protected. Wish I got that done, a motorcycle kicked up a boulder and knocked the shyte out of the area. Had to buy a touch up pen later on.
