Franks mudguards and an Apple AirTag came in today but can't install either since I dropped the car off for tint and ppf yesterday lol
I need to order me a set of those puppies! I just wish they had a gloss black option (rather than the carbon fibre) as I have nothing FC on teh whole car and worry they might look off. I am leaning toward the slim version (front and back) as I don't have much debris on the roads here and so far, there is no damage from rocks

i believe that Lexus somewhat accepts "custom orders". if you preference for a hard to find color combo, they'll make one for you. you'll just have to wait longer than usual instead of getting the first available color combo that is on the automatic allocation lists.
^^ It is a very controversial and heavily debated subject - Allocations they do, the verdict is out on whether they do custom orders or not. I am not sold on that last part although a forum members explained they do for low volume sellers like the LC 500, RC F and IS 500. Plausible but not 100% sold based on what I was told by my dealer
Afaik Lexus builds their cars by region. So when the dealer has a customer with a certain car in mind the dealer can ask the district sales manager / regional officer for an allocation. It's up to them / Lexus to accept it. Porsche and BMW do so well with custom orders. You'd think Lexus with it's years of L-Select in Japan and Bespoke build could offer North American customers a customization program. I'd of paid more if I could have added more blue accents to the interior.

So I had my IS500 for a total of 2 days before I put it in the shop for PPF/tint. They told me 5-8 days, and I've already given them a two day extension were on day 10, I was supposed to pick it up in a couple hours. Well I just got a call that they were on the last panel and they messed up and created a bubble on the passenger door cup
they said I could pick it up today and they'll comp me down the road or they want another day to get it right. I took a day off work for this and can't take tomorrow off so I told them I'll pick it up Saturday so they're going to have another two days to fix this. Gahhh. Fwiw and to their credit they slashed 10% off the invoice and they've been very transparent so I do appreciate that. Sorry for venting, I just want my baby back

^^ I know it is frustrating but at least you have a shop that is committed to do a good job rather than just send you on your way with a poorly done PPF....Trust me, once you have it, you will have an amazing time playing with it. Everything worth having is worth waiting for....

Just my 2 cents. Rant over but I sure wish I had the $5000 back I spent on that PPF.

I did full PPF on my M2 Competition and I'll never PPF a car again. It's really a waste of money. The only thing it really saves you from is waxing a car. Every car I've owned before never got PPF and were basically fine. Just do a good wax every 6 months and make sure it's garaged. Rock chips happen and they are a lot cheaper to fix than adding PPF to a car.

NOTE: Frank’s mudguards take care of the lower areas; but the bumper, lights, a-pillars, and mirrors MUST be PPF’ed. Especially if you plan to take the car to meet ups, where seriously discerning eyes will gather. 😉
…and where this car is concerned, separation anxiety is real. 😎

You were correct in PPF’ing your car. I’ve gone on many mountain runs with dudes who didn’t and their cars looked like shyt. When you’re running with folks all sporting sticky summers, rock chips are flung left and right! 😂 Our lower bumpers and the rear (lower) panels catch hell, so you have to protect them.

Actually I have had a set of slim Frank's mudguards sitting in my garage for the past week hah. Yeah the separation anxiety is no joke.

Anxiety-wise, imagine how it was back in early 2022 and no one had seen the 500. The PPF guy quoted me 5 days as well and I had it in my brain this would be JoyRide-Appaloosa! 😂 Until I drove up and the shop was filled with Porsches (Classic & Modern) and a few 90s era BMW 6’s. My concern evaporated because they had other toys to grab their attention than my little Lexus.
Didn’t stop me from checking the Lexus app though, just in case. 😜

Right on! The car looks awesome; but of course it would, being #BlueCrew and all. 😈💙

Same exact thing for me, they had a mileage check-in and when I toured their shop they had a nice Rivian, Porsche, Benz etc so that put me a bit at ease. When I picked her up the guy did say the Lexus got more looks than the 150K Porsche next to it #BlueCrew
Oh yeah I checked the app daily. The mileage stayed the same but the range till empty kept going down (probably started it up to charge the battery a few times, or they revved it.. I'll never know probably for the better).
One of my good friends stopped by this morning to check out the 500. He’s got the ‘22 Type-S in the background. I should get a 1IS just to complete the set lol. Naw my next car will be a truck or SUV to add to the stable.
