Default Wipers on lights on?

I might be mistaken, but I was under the impression that Lights and Wipers both being on the Auto settings should incorporate the logic of Wipers on -> Lights on.

My user manual is stuffed somewhere in one of the closets and I can't find it. Does anyone have a definitive answer on this one?

The IS 500 isn't that sophisticated yet, it's doesn't do that. My Mini's were doing that 10 years ago....

It can’t do it. I’m not sure any Lexus does this, at least that I am aware of, sadly. My Audi 12 years ago did, my 2014 GS did not, and of course this one does not either.

Definitely not. It rains nine months a year here, my auto headlights have never turned on in inclement conditions during the day.

File this in my “Dumbest smart car I’ve ever had.” I’m learning that my car is like the extremely book smart person that has no common sense.

Maybe I am old school but I am don't like these auto features. I would rather be the one activating my headlights or my wipers when I want too rather than letting the car do its own thing. In Canada, there is no "off" feature on the headlight....We have auto, park light or full headlights. It drives me bat***** crazy at dusk when you drive into a somewhat shaded area for like 5 sec and you see your headlights turn on, then turn off and such. I would rather be in control of when I want my headlights on and off, and the same with my wipers. I have driven car with this foolishness technology and they never worked well, they would start going fast for no reason, or wouldn't wipe off the windshield when it was needed.

Again, this is just MY opinion and I am not suggesting that some people can't enjoy it or feel a need for it, but personally, I hate all of that nonsense....

That's one reason I deactivated rain sensing on my car, I want to decide when the wipers should come on, not when there's a drop or two on the windshield. I do however like the auto headlight when you turn on your wipers in other cars; in some states if you turn on your wipers, it's the law that you need to turn on your headlights too. Auto manufacturers need to standardize this stuff, I see so many people flying down the highway with no headlights because they think their car has auto headlights because their DLRs are on. Oh well, no one will be happy all the time, they should just give us the options to enable what we want and don't want.

Haven’t noticed one way or the other on the IS, but we have a GX470 and the headlights on it often automatically turn on along with the windshield wipers during heavier rain events.
