2024 is 500
About the Infotainment this struck me, Looking at the modern Lexus Infotainment which looks like Toyota one perhaps its a fork of Android AOSP not sure also perhaps the latest OS of Lexus is made in US vs the older one in Japan. Anyways the ES 2023 got itself a new OS and DCM upgrade from the older OS the important thing I noticed was it discards the CD player unit. I noticed the same on LC 500, it also got the newer DCM + OS and removed the CD player.
So thinking about the only cars left in the Lexus lineup which have CD Players are - GX 2023 and IS 2023, RC / RC F 2023. And since the new GX is going all Turbo + Hybrid it got a total overhaul. While the IS and RC remain same, plus we all know how RC is a mix of IS and GS in both interior and underneath. So far there's no info on the 2024 models for RC and IS even though we know they are coming at-least IS is coming for 2024.
Well, now here's my theory. If Lexus wants to give the new DCM they must remove the CD Player unit from the IS center console which means it is a complete package meaning it houses the machined AL ***** and the RC also has similar unit (not same) I read a thread here on someone asking for a swap of RC's center console unit due to being matte vs piano black on ours. So removing that means they have to design a new unit without CD player will Lexus do it for just 1 year of IS and RC ? I doubt. Unless they want to keep the IS and RC run until 2025.
Ultimately that means if the IS does get new DCM then expect this car to run until 2025 MY is my rough guess. If they do not then expect 2024 being last and RC will be killed along with RC F in 2024.

That is annoying. I still use the CD player from time to time. Not often but enough that I would miss it.
I just want to see how nice they sound on the Mark Levinson system.
Best. Party. Trick. (Other than flooring it) 😈
I like the fact that IS has 3.5mm AUX port still intact. I love my high quality audio files, FLAC 24Bit files, I have my LG phone with ESS Sabre DAC chipset and a good ol iPod with SD card mod. I can simply use them for that purpose, I still forgot to test the ML Audio when I test drove the IS 500.. the wattage is damn impressive for the size, compact sport sedan with 1800W of Amplification power at disposal with insane 17 Speaker setup. Plus this car has Rear speakers too which 90% of the modern cars do not have.
I noticed Lexus removed the 3.5mm AUX jack too when they upgrade the newer Infotainment. Not sure about JP variants.

Hi were you able to access the 2024 owners manual?
So I am pleased to let all you enthusiasts know that the IS500 will be produced for at least one more year. I did my weekly search on TIS for 2024 models by tricking the website to let me search for 2024MYs and this week I actually got a hit for the 2024 IS500. Last week it told me that nothing was found for all 2024 IS', but this week it shows a Emergency Response Guide assigned to the 2024 IS300, IS350, and IS500. I suspect we are a couple of weeks away before I'll be able to grab the owner's manuals for the car, but this is a sign that the good old 2UR lives on for at least one more year. I'll update this thread once I eventually get the owner's manuals or any additional info.
It can play DVD Video titles. My DVD Audio titles did not play but audio titles authored as a DVD-Video disc work. Sadly DVD-Audio, SACD and DTS CD are not on the list.
I popped in some DVD concerts and they play the PCM stereo and in 5.1 Dolby Digital surround which is nice. I admit this is more of a toy as I'm not likely to do that too much. The audio will play while you drive you just can't see any video unless parked.
