Smile New Owner! Entry/Exit tilt wheel

Hello all. I just got a 2022 IS300 AWD. Had a 2007 IS250 AWD back in the day. This car new car is an improvement in every way. One question - I HATE when the seat and steering wheel moves when you enter and exit the car. I finally found the setting to stop the seat from moving in the car's menu. It has options for Entry/Exit and they can be ON, PARTIAL, or OFF. I selected OFF. It did stop the seat from moving, but the steering wheel still moves. Is there a way to disable that automatic "feature" so that the steering wheel only ever moves when I specifically adjust it myself?

Car came with no less than 4 manuals and I am going through them all, but I can't find anything about the automatic steering wheel moving up out of the way when turning off the car. Thanks!!

In case anyone was wondering, I went in thinking Iridium, but left with Atomic Silver. Iridium was nice, but it almost matches the 19" wheels in the Premium package. The Atomic Silver gives a bit of contrast. Its a slighly warmer color.

Hi, as far as I know the steering wheel/column retracting function can't be turned off.

Thanks. I think I am finding through Google searches that is the case - can disable the seat movement in settings (which I did), but the steering column can't be disabled. I think I can take it to dealer and they can code that "feature" out. I just wonder what "Partial" means then in the settings. Weird.

Atomic Silver is best silver, I loved it from the moment I saw it and chose it for my '19. It can vary from a golden silver at sunset, to a bright metallic silver under LED light, and it has a lot of depth because it's a 5 stage paint.

As for the steering wheel, I managed to 'disable' it by simply setting the wheel in the default off position for my driver seat memory setting. When the car turns off, the wheel doesn't move because it's already in the off position. Do you find it annoying, or is it something else?

If you look in the back of your owner's manual, you can find a list of things the dealer can adjust. I don't think the steering wheel is one of them.

Thanks for the reply. I have set my seat memory setting (driver 1). And under Vehicle Settings, I have the Entry/Exit setting set to "Off". That stopped the seat from moving, but not the steering wheel.

Forgive me, what do you mean by setting the wheel in the default off position for drivers seat memory? Do you mean you keep the steering wheel at the angle/location of how it is when it moves away? Thanks!

And yes, loving the Atomic. I really liked Iridium, but in certain lights it always seemed icy/baby blue. Not bad at all, but wasn't sure I could live with it everyday. On these 21 and 22 models like mine, the rear bumper is black on the bottom. And since it's not an F Sport, it isn't glossy. Its that black plastic that is matte looking. Hopefully that doesn't start to fade like it does on Jeep Wrangler fender flares.

Yes, that's exactly what I meant. That's why it is 'disabled' in the sense that it doesn't move when it's already in the off position. I test this by setting the wheel as far away from me and as far up as it'll go, then set that into position 1 to be memorized by the car. Shut the car off and see if it moves at all.

It works for me because I'm already fine with the default off position for my steering wheel, I can still see all the gauges and it's still comfortable to hold. I can imagine that it would be more difficult to pull this off for people who want the wheel set lower, or closer to them, etc.

I disabled the seat and wheel movement because I just didn't want it to draw on battery power after the car is off. In practice, it's probably negligible wear on the battery and electric motors even over a decade. I might enable all of that crap for a while to see if I can learn to like it, I did pay for those features after all.

With ‘partial’ the seat retracts about half way instead of sliding all the way back. I use ‘partial’ so I don’t have to climb out of that hole.
