Default Trunk strut upgrade

Has anyone done an upgrade to their trunk struts? I have been thinking of doing it, but haven’t seen any info on this. I would just like to be able to push my trunk button on my key fob and have the trunk open for me, it gets annoying having to always lift up the trunk manually.

I believe the 2IS has the struts but 3IS trunk is designed differently.. don't think this is possible.

Have you tried pulling down the upper lining of the trunk to see what's under there keeping the trunk open? If you see struts, you can replace them with a firmer strut and that will open it when you press the button.

The 3IS uses torsion bar like the corolla. The common mod is to use a trunk spring, but that is unsightly and rather noisy.

The video is, but then Sasnuke explains what needs to be done. As usual.

on my ES the trunk flies up automatically when you hit the button. It makes me feel cool like hey look I have automatic stuff! but you do have to close it manually. but at least it's one manual motion vs. two.

I actually bought the trunk springs that is shown on so many youtube videos, but there is no suitable place to hook the spring without affecting the trunk liner. So, we gotta think of alternatives, for anyone thinking to have auto opening of the trunk.
