Default Access System with Elec. Key malfunction

Not sure if anyone can help me solve this issue. After a week of not driving my 2017 IS I go to start it & it won’t crank. I even changed battery & remote battery still nothing. Hoping to avoid towing to dealer. Any suggestions are Appreciated

Did you charge the battery? A new battery doesn’t mean it has a decent charge on it, it may have been sitting on a shelf for 6 months.

^^ To me, it appears that it isn't a battery issue and may require a trip to the dealer. Mind you, there are some fairly tech savvy folks here so maybe someone can chime in

Correct I might have to tow to the dealer. Just hoping someone has dealt with this issue or a tech savvy person can give me suggestions

Well that is super helpful. Is there a way to physically start it with the key? I am new to the IS line so I'm not sure. I thought these cars had a backup start method in case the remote died.

my fob battery isn’t dead so putting it on the start button doesn’t work for my situation even though I did try it. Not sure what my issue is will probably have to tow to the dealer if I can’t find a solution

Maybe they can give suggestions over the phone. I also found this after a google search:
When the electronic key does not work properly
  • Make sure that the smart access system with push-button start has not been deactivated using the Remote Touch or at your Lexus dealer. If it is off, turn the function on.
  • Check if battery-saving mode is set. If it is set, cancel the function.
Maybe you had the key in your pocket or something and accidentally mashed the buttons and put it in battery saving mode? The interwebs says to disable power saving mode, just press any button on the key fob.

I didn't find anything on deactivating or reactivating the smart access system.
